Shadow of the Colossus Fanart Shows Every Colossus To Scale

DeviantArt artist Andrew 'AndyDaRoo' McGee places all the colossi in a single image, drawn to scale.

There are some pieces of fanart that just make your jaw drop. Artist Andrew McGee has beautifully illustrated the overwhelming scale of the monsters in Shadow of the Colossus. Combining all of the 16 colossi in a single image, the work shows the wide range of sizes of these creatures. The image makes clear the differences in scale between colossi, and puts their size in perspective with Wander and his horse, Argo, placed on the right. The colors even recall the desaturated colors and the darkness of the game. McGee has posted some other minimalist pieces on his page, including images of the gravity gun and portal guns from Half Life and Portal. You can check out the full size image of the colossi, and McGee's other work, on his DeviantArt page [http://andydaroo.deviantart.com/art/Shadows-of-the-Colossi-FINAL-418119470?offset=60#comments].

Shadow of the Colossus developed a devoted following its release for PS2 in 2005. An HD version came to PS3 in 2011. The game follows the long and lonely journey of Wander as he aims to take down the colossi and resurrect a girl named Mono. Some dedicated players, currently available free [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-05-02-the-quest-for-shadow-of-the-colossuss-last-big-secret] to PlayStation Plus members on the PS3.

Why do people always say this about content available on PS+? It's not free, PS+ is a subscription service! You don't subscribe to Netflix and go "Look at all these movies that I can watch for free!"

Misused words, I agree.

"At no extra cost" would be a better substitute.

OT:Man, I really need to play Shadow of The Colossus.

Maybe once the Playstation 3 becomes dirt cheap, but I doubt that the HD collection will anytime soon.

Yes, it's free for the low, low cost of $9.99 per month (or $49.99 annually). Again, using Netflix as an example, when new films are added, they're not hallmarked as free content. If I subscribe to a newspaper, I don't let everyone know about the free paper that got delivered to my mail, that everyone else have to pay for at the store.

P.S. It is indeed a cool poster and that game is rather epic so I can do nothing but recommend it.

I love how he even included the beast that Wander transforms into at the end, nice touch!

I love SOTC so much, both in gameplay and the fact that story is really good IF you pay attention to it!

Having never played the game, why does the white one on the very left, seemingly have a very large penis....? Not to mention, some odd fucking shapes in there.

Also, how do you get the scale of them? Run along side them? Count how many you's high it is?

That one is actually carrying a stone club, though your right the placement does look suspect. The jagged shapes are the stone on that colossus which resembles armour.

As for getting the right scales I'd assume checking the game assets for the in game character models will help get the comparisons between each colossus to get the sizes right.

You mean you don't know if the HD collection will be cheap too? Dunno about in the UK, but here in Canada a new copy can easily be found around $20 (even cheaper listings online). Quick check on Amazon.co.uk shows about £14. Considering that's both Ico and SOTC, that's a pretty good price (my PS2 copies I remember were $40 for Ico and $20 for SOTC). As backwards as it sounds, $20 is what Ico and SOTC cost alone on the North American PSN right now.

Though I wish you good luck and hope you like it!

OT: Ya, this is hardly the first picture that compared all of the colossi. Here are 3 more on a quick Google Image search:

Still neat, but done before.

The first picture I did on my other post was from the game's art book. Another guy (the one that did the rest of the pictures) used comparisons to the environment and other means to estimate numerical heights. It's neat, but there haven't been any actual canon numbers from Team Ico. Here's the guy's analysis. [http://nomads-sotc-blog.blogspot.ca/2011/08/colossi-sizes.html]

Well, that shows how oblivious I am to pricing :D

Now all I need is for PS3 to become dirt cheap.

I'm Dutch and even I don't have a clue what they want me to answer to that. I just keep refreshing them until I get one that isn't Master Card related. :D

OT: Found my new wallpaper. The size comparison isn't new, but I like the way this one is done. Nice style and still very clear. Damn, now I want to go play it again.
