Thief Channels Primal New Video


Robes are always a bad sign.

Thief's due next February, but to keep you occupied until then Eidos Montreal wants to remind you that there are worse things in the shadows than Garrett. Men in robes are always bad news, and it's up to the man who isn't anyone's savior to step in and do something noble for a change. Or maybe not. Shiny things are more important than heroics.

This is the reboot that Eidos hopes will quick time events [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/128616-Eidos-Thiefs-Going-To-Overcome-Fan-Resistance] - than what's in it.

Whether it'll amaze or disappoint you is something you'll have to wait till February 25th to find out. This will be a PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One title.

Okay. The new Thief seems to be stealing some of its gameplay and themes from Dishonored. Whereas Dishonored stole a fair bit of its gameplay and themes from the original Thief...

Well, I guess that makes both developers into dishonorable thieves. Kind of appropriate really.
(Disclaimer: That's meant only as a terrible pun - no real offence is meant to either of Eidos Montreal or Arkane, whom I'm sure are both filled with thoroughly honest and honourable people!)

Still, there's definitely some cross-pollination going on here... which is a good sign, considering Dishonored was a ridiculously good game.

So, is the girl in the trailer supposed to be the girl from the end of Deadly Shadows?

And if they're doing some supernatural stuff in the game, there had better be Hammerites and Pagans!

ya I dunno what they were doing i though they were doing a reboot of the series but not it looks like maybe it's a cotinuation of the last? I dunno still no word on hammerites and pagans.

Honestly we just want to steal stuff is that so hard? We can to be able to do a mission completely stealthy and leave no trace of being there beyond missing food/jewels/etc. We don't want forced action sequences and guard escapes or anything like that we just want to steal stuff. Also Garret was never a hero at least not because he wanted to be.

It's still a reboot of the series. That girl and her place in the storyline has been confirmed by the developers for a long time and they still maintain that it's a reboot. It has no connection to the earlier three games, other than the names of a few characters.

y'know, they didn't have to "overcome fan resistance" back when everybody was asking for it, they could have just made the game that the fans were SPECIFICALLY ASKING FOR

the choice to decide what "today's gamer" wants was their decision, and this would have not been an issue if they actually remembered how to make real games that improve quality of play, not bullshit shaped by how much they can screw with their customers for more money

The more I see about the new Thief, the more I'm convinced Eidos Montreal... kinda knows what they're doing. At least they nailed down my previous concern of ditching out the supernatural element of the series, I'm glad they didn't after all

This is a reboot, so I highly doubt it's that girl and for the Hammerites and Pagans... I think they're making up new factions, so at the very least, I hope they retain the escence of both.
