Nintendo Crowns Dec. 14-15 National StreetPass Weekend

If you want StreetPasses, head to one of many Nintendo Zone locations this weekend.

Miis are going to mingle more than before this weekend during Nintendo's National StreetPass weekend. Anyone accessing a Nintendo Zone location from Dec. 14 to 15 will be able to gain other 3DS users' Mii and game data. The best part is that users will be able to StreetPass other users from around the country rather than only the ones nearby.

StreetPass allows 3DS users to add other 3DS users' in their Mii Plaza. In the Mii Plaza, the user can exchange puzzle pieces and partake on a quest to rescue the royal family and fight monsters, as well as additional Mii Plaza games for purchase. Normally a user needs to pass within the vicinity of another for that person to be added to Mii Plaza. National StreetPass will allow users to StreetPass people not near them.

Nintendo Zones have StreetPass relay zones. When 3DS users are within a Nintendo Zone, their information is sent to Nintendo servers. The data is then passed to the next 3DS user in that Nintendo Zone. This gives users many more Miis in their plaza and can help in getting Miis from states across the country.

This will be a great feature for 3DS users who do not live in areas populated by many 3DS users. Many places such as Starbucks and McDonald's have Nintendo Zones, so chances are you probably live near at least one Nintendo Zone. And don't worry - StreetPassing others isn't nearly as creepy as the Nintendo video makes it seem.

Those real Mii faces are horrifying, no idea why some of them are red or orange either as I'm pretty sure neither real people or Mii's come in those colours...

Dammit why does it have to be US only??? Otherwise I would of definitely bought a eShop card just to buy those other optional Streetpass games!
In saying so they should get rid of the 10 miis limits (why not have it to 99 and they should allow you to not used all of your recent acquire Mii in the Streetpass games in onesession).

ummmm, which nation? if it's national street pass day that makes me think it must be confined to a single nation. Otherwise it'd be international street pass day.

Yeah, no kidding. I remember going to a convention within months of the 3DS coming out, and I'm thinking "Sure, I'll get a few hits, but the 3DS is really doing bad right now, so probably not many". Then I get there, and EVERYONE (it seemed) had a 3DS. And now that the 3DS is actually worth owning, it's even worse (or better?).

Yeah, no kidding. I remember going to a convention within months of the 3DS coming out, and I'm thinking "Sure, I'll get a few hits, but the 3DS is really doing bad right now, so probably not many". Then I get there, and EVERYONE (it seemed) had a 3DS. And now that the 3DS is actually worth owning, it's even worse (or better?).

The first time I had a DS at a 'Con was Gaymer X. I feel like everyone there had a DS. I bought the new Streetpass games while there (they're a ton of fun) and ended up with almost 500 tags at the two day convention alone. It's a great thing to be waiting in line for some autographs or for a panel and to see that green light flashing.

For anyone that needs a quick primer on the games:

Puzzle Swap - Exactly What It Says On The Tin - A game where you swap pieces of puzzle panels with other Miis. The more they have, the more you can choose from.

Find Mii I & II - A game where your Mii, the ruler of a fantasy kingdom, gets kidnapped by monsters and heroes passing by (Miis you Streetpass) come to the kingdom to rescue them. The more you Streetpass the same person, the higher the level (more damaging) their Mii is. Each character gets an attack and magic spell (which is determined by their color). Monsters get progressively harder, and you can find hats for your Mii along the way.

Mii Force - A side scrolling Shmup where you pilot a ship and other Streetpassed Mii "pods" are the weapons / power ups. Color determines what weapon you get for each Mii.

Flower Town - Your friendly gardening simulator. Plant a seed and Streetpassed Miis will come by and water it for you. This one is not for you heavy action-o-philes. You can take jobs from the flower shop in the mall and customize your gardens with accessories. If you like dressing up a back yard and not having to spend real money or do manual labor, this one is for you.

Warrior's Way - Remember the big army style battles from the Suikoden series? This is exactly that, with some twists. If the Miis you Streetpass don't own the game, they'll donate soldiers equal to how many people they've Streetpassed in total to your forces. If they do, they'll show up with their own army and you can battle them (if you win, you gain troops, if you lose you lose troops.) This is going to be the most fun one the next convention I get to, just to compare the sizes of peoples armies.

Monster Manor - RPG esque dungeon crawler where you make the dungeon. Every Mii you Streetpass brings with them a part of the map in the shape of a puzzle piece (usually a common Tetris-like shape). The piece is of the color of that Mii, and if you make big sections of a single color you get treasure. Bigger areas net bigger rewards (from wooden, iron chests up to gold). Uncover the right spot on each floor to find the stairs to the next.

Also, Monsters roam the Manor (hence the name). You fight them in a sort of active-time-battle format with blocking, shooting, and charging up shots. The original premise is to climb the manor to help out your sidekick, but for the amount of times you see them, I'd completely forgotten about them a few floors in. Guns level up the more you use them. Monsters get stronger the higher you go. The more times you Streetpass someone, the more options you get on the puzzle pieces they bring (up to five choices). This one is my absolute favorite.

Anyway, hope this gives people an idea if they'd like the games. Having all these really makes me excited when I see the green light come on in the corner telling me I've 'Passed someone. I should note you can also use play coins to play these games, by hiring Mii's that you've 'Passed in the past (ha) to help you. And play coins are earned by taking steps (via the pedometer feature on the 3DS) so it encourages you to keep it with you at all times.

Can't wait to get out there and 'Pass you guys! Now to find a Nintendo Zone!

(Oh, the new games let you buy even more hats for your Mii to wear as well. If you're a completionist, just pay the $15 one time fee to get all four games. I spend more time than I did on A Link Between Worlds on these games, so it's fair to say it's a bit addicting!)

Thanks for this! Flower Town and Monster Manor both sound really fun to me. Plus I love getting new hats for my Mii, so I'm tempted. I just don't want to spend the money right now. I'm pretty broke after buying Christmas presents.
