Drop Some Phat NES Beats With the "Nintendo Mixtape"

New York hip-hop group No Question? [http://www.myspace.com/noquestioncamp] has released Got Game?, an album set to remixed tracks of beloved games from the halcyon days of the NES.

(Warning: Not Safe For Work, Potentially Offensive)

Kids who grew up playing the NES once upon a time are no longer kids - now they're adults with passions and careers of their own. Still, those fond memories from childhood seem to worm their way into their current lives, whether on their TV shows [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93664-Robot-Chicken-Does-Castlevania] or, in the case of New York hip-hop crew No Question?, their music.

Got Game?, aka the here [http://www.nintendomixtape.com/], free of charge.

And in case you haven't gotten enough NES-themed rap today, here's a link back to April's Mega Man Rap Battles the Robot Masters [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/90644-Mega-Man-Rap-Battles-the-Robot-Masters].

(Thanks, Joystiq [http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/12/stop-what-youre-doing-and-listen-to-the-nintendo-mixtape/])

This reminds me of one of my friends who, at a party, thought they were playing DJ Nester. When he was asking about the music, he found out someone in the room was just playing a Megaman game on the NES.

Ahh geeze, good idea but the lyrics ruin it.
Agreed. I'd listen to it more if it wasn't about smoking, for the same reason I don't listen to songs about clubbing.

Good stuff, the lyrics were a bit lacking, not in content, but in appeal to me. IMHO this is still one of the best video game themed tracks, and why I love nerdcore:

Yeah, the beat is tight but Double Dragon reduced to a song about the love of splif smoking, nah.

@ChromeAlchemist: Now that's more like it! :D

These totally made my day. These songs are actually not just gimmicky or "good for a geeky song" but they're really good. It's crazy that they're giving the album away for free, I'd be willing to pay for this. Does anyone know why the songs are free? Would a copyright on the samples have something to do with it?

No thanks, I rather keep my NES soundtracks nice and original, without the rapping. I only like a few rap songs, and these aren't on that list.

PS: The Megaman one wás awesome though.

The remix was quite good but the rap was just pretty poor. The lyrics weren't particularly special or original
