Uwe Boll Announces Rampage 2

Uwe Boll, the filmmaker behind game-to-film adaptations like Postal, House of the Dead and In the Name of the King, has announced a sequel to his 2009 mass murder film Rampage.

In the world of gaming <a href=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1>Uwe Boll is perhaps best known for taking game franchises with otherwise serviceable or even decent stories and transforming them into the film equivalent of septic runoff. That being the case, Boll has produced a few films that arguably prove that, while he isn't necessarily a man with good taste, he can at least produce competently put together work when he actually puts in the effort.

Key among these <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/movie-defense-force/6996-Rampage>would be Rampage, which chronicles the break down and eventual mass murder spree of Bill Williamson, played by <a href=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0281956/?ref_=nv_sr_1>Brendan Fletcher, a mechanic living in a fictional Oregon town. While a movie pretty much made for the sole purpose of inviting controversy, it's nonetheless a competently composed look at the procedure of someone snapping and doing something monstrous.

Now, Boll has announced that a sequel is in the works. While there haven't been too many details divulged as of just yet, Rampage 2 will apparently see the return of Fletcher's character who, this time, will take over a TV station and hold its employees hostage in a bid to project his political views. The film is set to be shot over the course of six days in Maple Ridge, British Columbia and will also feature performances from Lochlyn Munro, Mike Dopud and Michaela Ross.

I can't wait to not watch it. Boll is the only director in Hollywood whom I actively avoid.

Not just counting on the "Movie Defense Force" thing but this movie apparently was actually quite decent so its sad to see Uwe Boll probably fuck it up (lets have some hope).

These sort of movies are hard to pull off and the fact that this director managed that is kind of interesting on its own.

Oh thank God, for a moment there I thought it was referring to the Rampage series of video games.

I'd be tempted to say giant monsters wrecking cities is a plot that even the most inept movie directors could manage, but I think the 1998 Godzilla taught us otherwise.

I'll give it a chance. I admit that I have my doubts about a sequel, but the first one was really good.

Because nothing says "high quality film" quite like filming on a soap opera time scale.

That's Boll for you. When he shot BloodRayne: The Third Reich [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1153546/] he also shot a scene-by-scene Parody of BloodRayne called Blubberella [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1756427/]. He also shot Auschwitz [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1722426/] at the same time and set. All within a really short time. (I can't be bothered to seek out the exact filming time atm. But it was really short.)

Let that sink in: He not only shot a terrible parody of his own terrible movie while filming said movie. He also just used the fact that he had a WWII set on hand to shoot a terrible holocaust documentary-drama-thingy.

That guy's the greatest troll in the industry.

I really should make an Uwe Boll Night with my buddies. But I think I'll skip Rampage for that, because that film is said to be decent and that kinda defeats the point of an Uwe Boll Night.

DONT!

For the love of sanity... do not attempt... but if you absolutely have to, i advice large doses of alcohol or other intoxicating substances that lead to memory loss when abused...

How is this news?
Anyhow, Seems like the perfect moment to recommend the one and ONLY one good movie of Boll's, heart of america. Heart wrenching enough to linger in my mind years after watching. Not for people expecting action though, that is saved only for the ending.
I believe someone is responsible for over encouraging Uwe. Moneys on the parents.

To be honest it really depends on the film and if its anything like the first one it probably doesnt need much more then that.

Are you implying that there is still sanity left in me? Or that alcohol (and perhaps a few liters of windowcleaner) weren't on the menu anyways?

Well, I suppose he's at least an avid fan of recycling.

the first one was surprisingly watchable. for once i dint had to say it was crap. it made sense with his psychotic breakdown and just killing everyone. especially in the bingo hall it was actually tense if he will kill everyone or not.

not that i have high hopes for part 2 but i might give it a try when its out on dvd.

Don't know if the laws in germany changed, but in the past only profit was taxed.(as i understand it anyway)
Plus being well subsidised, there was good money to be made at being bad at something.

I havent seen part 1, but i am relieft they were not talking about the Rampage game.
We have that already, it's called Godzilla (or random other Kaiju movie).

But past results don't bode well.

personly i found "In the of the king" a bit bland (partly due to Jason Statham), but watchable as a hole.
I didn't see the Dungeon siege connection though.

But, Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne and so on were total Garbage.

Oh damn. Here I was hoping we were talking about Rampage 2: Universal Tour. I want to watch a movie about A giant Rhino, Lobster, and Rat run around the world and blowing everything up.
Then again, if anyone is making a video game adaption, Uwe Boll is the second-to-last guy I want making it. The first would be whoever the hell wrote up the script to the Super Mario Brothers movie

Dammit, no! I'm 86.7% sure that Rampage being legitimately good was a once-in-a-lifetime fluke, but does he really have to make a sequel just to bring that number to 100%? Why would Uwe Boll want to tarnish the one film he's made that is widely considered to be not shit?

So... basically a cash-in excuse for Uwe Boll to pick a political position to vilify? Can't say I'm interested in the least, regardless of what his opinions are.
