Cosplay: Princess Merida from Brave Makes Out with A Live Grizzly Bear

Tina Rybakova, an extreme cosplayer from Moscow, teamed up with a grizzly bear for her latest photo shoot.

The word dedication is often overused when discussing cosplay. Creating the perfect costume definitely takes time and an intense kind of single-mindedness, but not many cosplayers actually risk their lives for the craft. However, Tina Rybakova is not your average cosplayer.

Dasha Kond is the Moscow-based photographer who was behind the lens. Kond often utilizes animals, but they're typically harmless creatures like llamas, camels, and chihuahuas. For his latest shoot, though, Mr. Kond recruited a Ussuri brown bear, also known as a black grizzly.

Obviously, the bear had undergone some kind of training/brainwashing (otherwise this article would have labeled "NSFW/GORE"), but letting a thousand pound bear lick your face in the name of cosplay takes nerves of steel.

Rybakova is allegedly portraying Princess Merida, the tomboy protagonist from Disney's Brave. But I don't remember Merida owning many leather bikinis, and she definitely preferred the bow to the broadsword. So, it feels like this shoot may have just been an excuse to put an attractive redhead next to a dangerous animal.

Either way, despite the bikini, she's far more manly than I will ever be.

I have to wonder... if this is supposed to be Princess Merida, is the bear supposed to be her cursed mother? And if so, could this technically be one of the oddest pictures of mother/daughter pseudo-incest cosplay? Because if it's supposed to be Mor'du, then it's even weirder... if that's possible.

You know, just asking questions here.

Yeah, besides the red hair, and the bear, I don't really see how this is suppose to be Merida. She doesn't even have a bow or arrows in this.

<_< Also; How did they get the bear to lick her face?

Are we sure this isn't Red Sonja? Because based on that picture alone Red Sonja seems far, far more likely than Merida.

Would this seem less weird if I had actually seen brave? I also have trouble believing that the main character of Brave ever dresses like that in the movie.

This is the internet. Whatever questions you just asked, the most obvious answer is "Yes".

No, I've seen Brave and this is... weird. I mean it has a lot to do with bears sure but this is weird.

Also Merida is a teenage who only wears dresses, so this... yeah it's still weird.

Nope, as some guy speculated above, it actually gets weirder if you've seen Brave, since the only two bears in the movie are the Big Bad and her mother.

Maybe her mother is giving her a kiss goodnight......

.... Yeah I didn't believe that either. Great movie but this cosplay has next to no connection. The costume and scene are beautiful.

The preparation included slapping her in the face with a dead salmon. It was rather unhot.

Is this really news worthy? Maybe if she actually wore Merida dress, but it's just a cosplay shoot. With a bear.

I get it. Thats just some easy, boob covered click-bait.

From there to here, from here to there
All black and brown and covered in hair.
Smelled that girl on the summer air
The bear, the bear, the maiden fair.

I'm going to assume that this was just misreported by someone who has no clue what Brave is.

... or not. Honestly, aside from the lick-on-the-lips and the costume, the majority of the shots look like they... sorta fit, anyway.

I wouldn't describe llamas as harmless. Well, neither would you if you work with the ones I do. One of them is evil incarnate, and the only one that is cool as hell is a Guanaco.
