Want to Play WildStar? Sign Up for a "First Come, First Serve" Code

All you have to do is enter your email address for a chance to be chosen. But you better hurry.

There has been a lot of positive buzz about Carbine Studios' upcoming MMO WildStar. If you haven't been keeping up with the news, now is your chance to get into the game and see firsthand.

Starting now, Carbine will allow 40,000 players into the beta for this coming weekend. All you need to do is sign up here [http://godankey.com/panel/external/VURaUU1BRXg] for a chance to be one of the lucky ones. This is "first come, first serve", so the sooner you get them your email address, the better. Once the 40,000 keys are gone, you are out of luck.

If you get a code, the beta weekend begins at 7 a.m. on Friday, February 21, and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, February 23. Note that those time are Pacific Time, so 10 a.m. Friday to 2:59 a.m. Monday for you East Coasters.

If you want to bone up a bit on WildStar, then you might want to check out these 10 things you need to know [http://www.warcry.com/news/view/129991-Ten-Things-You-Need-to-Know-About-WildStar].

Yea, it appears (though I can't be certain) that the codes have been used up already somehow.

Either that or the widget they're using to generate the keys has been overloaded. The rest of the page loads fine, but the part in the middle that would actually hand out keys just says "Oops... this campaign is unavailable. Please try again later"

Well, through some miracle I got through and got entered in the draw, so it wasn't up very long when posted and it did go by very quickly. Welp, here's hoping I get in.

I entered and now it's a waiting game to see if I get a key. I was lucky enough to get a ESO beta key so who knows.

I must say I'm hoping to get a key. I came late to the party in terms of discovering the game but already I'm at this phase of:

I didn't expect this though...I know there was a stress test recently, and I heard rumors that they were going to be deleting a certain amount of accounts that didn't have characters over a certain level, but still. And only for a weekend? I was hoping it'd be a bit longer unless they're only doing it in small amounts since the game is (hopefully) close to launching.

Signed up. An hour late so I probably won't get one but I really hope I do. Been wanting to try this for months

Unfortunately this event started about 4-5 hours ago so most of the keys probably already got snatched up. I know my SO and I signed up as soon as we could, but so far only one of us got the invite.

But hey, maybe yall will get lucky.

Huh, signed up on a whim and already got a key in the mail. Whodathunk it? I'm not even that into mmos, so I'll probably just give it to a buddy of mine.

I wonder if I signed up early enough. Was up to watch Olympic hockey, but at a disadvantage being on the West Coast. Typically I'm not into MMO's but I had a fun time with a FTP game called Dragon Nest that had a similar aesthetic and fast paced action RPG elements.

Got one. Gave it to my roommate because I got to play in the Stress Test last weekend, though.

Gah I was too late. Wildstar really does look excellent, such a shame that last I heard its using the old bullshit subscription payment model.

Its doing one better and letting you use your ingame stuff to buy playtime, and for paying players to sell playtime to grunts that farm for them so that they can have more time...to farm for more time.

It is one of the weirdest models I've seen, but I guess EVE uses it too. They also sell ships that cost more than RW sports cars, so yeah I wouldn't be emulating that digital dependancy simulation if I were them.

Sort of. It has a sub model, obviously, but you can buy sub time with in game money.

People can buy somethin called CREDD (I think?) for 20 dollars. This can then be sold in game to players for however much people are willin to pay for it. Players can then use the CREDD to buy game time.

How well this works entirely depends on people who have enough money to buy CREDD and enough people with enough disposable income that they're willin to shell out 15 a month for the sub fee and 20 dollars here and there to put CREDD on the in game AH. EVE does this pretty successfully from what I hear so I'm hoppin it works out for them.

Kinda interested to see just how expensive this ends up bein in game.
