Atlus USA Confirms Localization of Persona 5, Spinoffs

<youtube=YKfaPgl8N8E>
Persona 5, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Persona 4: Dancing All Night will all release in North America.

With a new website [http://atlus.com/persona5/] and several new videos posted to YouTube, Atlus USA confirmed the localization of Persona 5, a game fans have been eagerly waiting for since Persona 4's success on the PS2. Atlus USA also confirmed the localization of three Persona spinoff games.

First announced in November for Japan [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/129936-Persona-5-Announced-For-PS3], Persona 5 details are still scarce. The game's primary color appears to be red (moving from Persona 3's blue and Persona 4's yellow), and the trailer asks, "You are a slave. Want emancipation?" An image displays chairs shackled by balls and chains. Persona 5 comes to PS3 in 2015.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdW_Y46DXiA] places the casts of Persona 3 and Persona 4 as well as two new characters in a labyrinth as one of the seven wonders of Yasogami High. Supposedly, "whoever hears the chimes of the clock tower will die." A bell causes the characters to cross space and time. Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth comes to 3DS this fall.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3EFoT-yvss] is a follow-up to Persona 4 Arena as the final chapter of the P-1 Grand Prix saga. Fog and the midnight channel return to the world, and Persona 3's Junpei Iori and Yukari Takeba will be sucked into the fighting world in order to save their friends Akihiko, Fuuka, Mitsuru, and Aigis. New character Sho Minazuki debuts as a fighter in this game, and this Persona user stands in the way of the Investigation Team. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax comes to PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall. Stick to the end of the trailer to see a familiar face from Persona 4 return.

Finally, the third spinoff, a rhythm game called Persona 4: Dancing All Night will also make it to North America. Made in collaboration with the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA developer, it stars the Investigation Team on the "Midnight Stage." Persona 4: Dancing All Night comes to PS Vita in 2015.

Considering how popular Persona 3 and Persona 4 are in the west, a localization confirmation of Persona 5 is hardly surprising. Seeing all three spinoffs get localizations is a bit more surprising.

Aw, godammit, that's what I get for skimming an article.

Good to see an actual Persona game this time, instead of that fighting game...thing.

I would care more, but considering how long it has taken previous Atlus games to reach the EU, I refuse to get excited over any of it.

Well, if Persona Q doesn't get an EU localization then I'm definitely buying a US 2DS, as well as US versions of every Nintendo console I buy from now on. I'll have to buy a PS3 for Persona 5 too, and probably a US one as well since Atlus seem to like region locking their games. Screw them.

I'm not even hoping for an EU version. I just hope it isn't region locked like P4A.

We'll never get the 3DS game. Still waiting for SMT IV.

Just played through P4: Golden twice so I'm fairly excited to see what's in store for P5.

Not too sure if I'll play any of the spin offs though. Guess I'll just wait and see if they're worth getting.

It's a bummer the two games I'm the most hype for, P4DAN and P5 are coming in 2015 instead of 2014, but I guess I can wait...

Still, glad to see that Ultimax is confirmed for a stateside release! Can't wait to play it!

Could we please, please, PLEASE just get a collection for the pc or the next gen? I'm not going to buy another previous gen console after my fourth xbox RRoD'ed and I have no need to buy a system that's going to be developed for less and less in the coming years.

Actually... you're getting an Etrian Odyssey styled Dungeon Crawler with Persona combat. Plus, there's no word yet on whether PQ will be canon to the storyline or not, unlike P4A2 and P4DAN. Still, it will be cool to see if the game design lets us play both storylines at the same time...

Dude, I am no huge fighting game fan by any means, but you seriously gotta give Arena a try. It's by far one of the most accessible fighting games in existence. If you've say, had experience with a character action game like Wonderful 101 or Bayonetta or DMC, the combat in P4A plays closer to that, where alternating your button mashes and stick movements does allow for someone to pick up and learn the game as they go.

Just don't play online, play it with some friends who don't know how to play the game. There's also a basic auto combo that's really easy to do and the flashy finishing moves and some of the more fun grabs/tosses/SP skills aren't that difficult to pull off.

Didn't Atlus also just announce they are releasing a new 3DS XL for Persona Q? Will we be getting that as well?

PersonaQ is a noncanon spinoff of Persona3 and Persona4. It's not JUST Etrian Odyssey reskin in that there is more than likely gonna be party interaction from both games. It's just gonna be a romp with your favorite murder investigation team and SEES.

Holy quoting batman! Anyway...

It should be, since it shows the SEES members when they attended yasogami high(I think it was that school). Otherwise, you'll get inconsistencies in P4A, considering they know them only at that point and never before that.

Man, I was pretty sure that we were going to get Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Persona 5, but Q and Dancing all night as well? Don't know if I'll end up getting these two, but I guess I could give it a shot. More excited about Ultimax though. Shame Persona 5 is so far away.

So bets on how long it takes to come to the rest of us who aren't in North America?

I'm going to go for 8 months.

Okay, that's cool, but what about Europe?
I know we'll probably get P5 and maybe P4U but Dancing All Night and Persona Q I'm kind of worried about.

I'm not expecting to see any of them 'til at least halfway through 2015 over here. It seriously sucks being at the bottom of the localisation list.
