Mario Kart 8 Limited Edition Comes With a Replica Blue Shell

Own the item that is the bane of every Mario Kart player.

The blue shell, which mercilessly tracks down the racer in first place and brings him down, has been the bane of every Mario Kart player at some point in their life, and now, you can get your hands on your very own replica model. Nintendo UK has announced a limited edition of Mario Kart 8 [http://www.nintendo.co.uk/News/2014/March/Get-into-pole-position-for-Mario-Kart-8-on-Wii-U-with-the-Mario-Kart-8-Limited-Edition-software-bundle-861108.html], that will come with a blue shell replica model, and a pre-order bonus keyring depending on which outlet you buy it from.

If you pre-order the game directly from the Nintendo UK online store [http://store.nintendo.co.uk/games-wii-u/exclusive-mario-kart-8-bundle-limited-edition-medium-t-shirt/10925848.html], you'll get yourself a red shell keyring and a bullet bill t-shirt. A golden dash mushroom keyring will be available for those who pre-order at Littlewoods and Very, whilst those pre-ordering via a selection of independent retailers will receive the Bullet Bill keyring.

GAME will be offering those in the UK who pre-order Mario Kart 8 a Wii U Super Mario Kart Racing Wheel. The limited edition is priced at £59.99 on the Nintendo online store, and we'd assume it would be the same at other outlets.

The limited edition is currently only confirmed for Europe, and there's no word on when (or if) the rest of the world will be able to get their hands on that sweet blue shell.

Furthermore, Nintendo announced that Super Nintendo classic Super Mario Kart will release on Nintendo eShop as a Wii U Virtual Console title on 27 March. Fans who purchase Super Mario Kart before June 30 2014 can get a discount of £5.49 on Mario Kart 8, providing the purchase takes place on the same Wii U console.

Mario Kart 8 will release on May 30, exclusively for the Wii U.

Well, now you can throw this in someone's face and see if they get PTSD from it. But then, the only thing you'd know is that they played mariokart and lost many times just because a blue shell was fired...

Hmm... take that blue shell model, turn it into an aerial topper, drive around town looking like you have a small blue shell just about to hit you. Fun times.

Speaking as a Canadian. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Mario Kart 8 is the "WiiU seller" for me, just like Mario Kart Wii was. My family and I love sitting around and playing Mario Kart competetively for hours. We'd all kill for the collectors edition item, especially me, because being the guy who's almost always in first, I was the one HIT BY IT ALL THE TIME. Though I mastered the "Dodge the shell" in Mario Kart Wii, though could only pull it off rarely given the item requirement, still fun overall. Hope to hear that we get this, unlike the Zelda Chest -.-

I like the new precedent of big Nintendo games having limited edition bonus things like this. The Ganondorf figure that came with Wind Waker HD was awesome, this would be a neat new tradition. Though I wonder if it will come to the US?

Soooooooo, they give us a physical blue shell so we can light it on fire, burn it down to ashes, and then put the ashes into a rocket to fire into the sun? Because that is basically what it does to friendships.
You're supposed to throw it at people who are more succesfull then you or ahead in a shopping que.

While the rest of that is great, my takeaway was that they put another Super Nintendo game on the Wii U eShop. Why are these things not also ported to the 3ds shop? I'm having a hard time believing Super Mario RPG and Earthbound are beyond it's processing power, and wouldn't everyone rather play those on a handheld anyhow? I'm sincerely hoping this is just part of their plan to roll it out at a later date to get people to re-buy it twice.

Also, a non-North American country getting an exclusive promotion from a game company? UNPOSSIBLE!!!
