No love for MSG: Zeonic Front?

It's a 3rd person tactical shooter where you pilot mechs.

I've got to disagree i thought Mechwarrior 3 was better than 4.
Yeah, I mean, MW4 didn't even have proper cockpits!

So is this a list of games that are cited by the devs to have influenced their game, or just 8 random mech games? Because if the latter, no Hawken (which isn't a classic but almost certainly influenced Titanfall) and no Armored Core, disappoint.

I don't honestly know why I look at these lists. All it creates is bitterness.

Heavy Gear 2 remains my favorite mech game of all time. Faster paced than Mechwarrior, more grounded than [insert random Japanese mecha game here],and both the ground combat and zero-g missions were awesome.

Steel Battalion does get points for the awesome controller though.

EDIT: Also, Gundam Side Story 0079 Rise from the Ashes remains the best Gundam simulator outside of the arcade pods in Japan.

STARHAWK IS THE GAME TITANFALL IMITATES .
By gosh. It's like a more charismatic, less generic, tower-defence version of Titanfall, with air combat.

Word to the wise though, caps get you wrath.

Didn't realize GunZ got a second game.

Honestly don't think either of those games have much in common with Titanfall though. Yes GunZ has parkour, though it's done in a way that is several times inferior to Titanfall. And yes Starhawk may may HAVE mechs, but it looks more like Section 8 than anything else.

And turn off the Caps. Can't tell if you've just forgotten they were on or if you really need to chill.

And welcome to the Escapist.

The pilot side gameplay feels a lot like Warframe, or to some extent to Mirror's Edge, which is probably a more likely candidate for inspiration, along with Tribes and good old Duke Nuke'em. Of course the gunplay might as well be ripped straight out of Call of Duty, except for the lock-on and anti-mech weapons.

I feel like Warframe in many respects did the fluid movement thing better.

What about Shogo: Mobile Armor Division?

It's got both combat on foot and inside a mech. Sure, for so far as I remember, you can't really get in and out on the fly, but IMO it still counts.

How on Earth did Chromehounds give us choices in the story? The story mode of the game was totally linear! Also, MANY people would say that MechWarrior 4 was the worst of the series. Not my personal opinion, but it is the opinion of many Battletech/MechWarrior veterans.
