K'NEX Unveils New Titanfall Sets

K'NEX has revealed the details for six new play sets based on Titanfall.

Titanfall launched yesterday finally giving countless eager gamers the chance to hop into the cockpit of their very own Titan. Not everyone has been able to take Titanfall for a spin, however. While the game is available on Xbox 360, Xbox One and PCs, gamers who stuck with Sony and Nintendo for their consoles have sadly been out of luck. That said, there may still be a way for those unhappy outsiders to get in on the fun. While the game itself may be out of their reach, there won't be anything stopping them from picking up one of six newly unveiled K'NEX sets based on the game.

The play sets in questions range in price from $12.99 to $99.99 and include mini-figures, weapons, buildings and, of course, Titans. More specifically, sets are being planned for the MILITIA Ogre Titan and the IMC Atlas Titan. Both Titan models are being price at $34.99 each. The grand poo-bah of the announcement however, is easily the $99.99 Ultimate Angel City Campaign Building set which contains more than 1,200 K'NEX parts including six mini-figures, parts for two Titans, and a collection of weapons and turrets among other things.

The only downside to all of this is the fact that none of these are planned to release until Fall 2014. If they wind up being as cool as they look though, they could be well worth the wait. Granted, this doesn't quite solve the problem of PlayStation and Nintendo fans not being able to play the game. Even so, these look like a lot of fun regardless of their console of origin and we look very much forward to piecing them together later this year.

I remember when K'Nex consisted of nothing more than colorful bars and connectors coded based on their length and utility. The goal was to build big things that often had moving parts.

On that mech kit, I can't even recognize a single K'Nex part, and those "buildings" are as simple as they can get.

Also, isn't Titanfall rated M? Why are there kids toys modeled after this?

I understand this game is trying to be the next Halo, but the marketing is confusing as hell.

K'nex: AMERICA'S Building Toy... because Lego's for damn, dirty, Danish, pinko-commies...

I jest, of course. I just find it funny, as a limey b'stard, how K'nex feel the need to emblazon their products with that slogan.

Someone needs to make a wargame out of this, a la Brickwars.

These are just screaming for dice rolls.

These seem to be on par with the same level of ridiculousness with the Call of Duty playsets made by Mega-Blocks. I think it would make more sense if they would just release replica models.

Titanfall looks fun at all, but this mostly reminds me of their old Mechwarrior sets, which makes miss Mechwarrior :(

That was amusing to me too because I had just been to a Toy R Us, Walmart, and Target just the other day (while out picking up my own copy of Titanfall) and while I distinctly remember seeing whole isles devoted to Lego, Mega Bloks, and even Playschool toys but can't recall even seeing any K'nex at all.

Perhaps they meant because it's an American company?

Jokes aside I do kinda want those, they will make nice accessories to the giant Atlas mech statue I got with the collectors edition :3

K'Nex is not exactly thriving in the marketspace. about the only products they have that move at all are some Mario stuff. Titanfall is an absolute gamble on their part. Picking up and designing product for a license based on an unreleased video game? There are reasons why most toymakers do not do that outside of the specialty collector market. The Titan's look interesting, but not exactly building toys. also worrying is the big $99 flagship set looks to simply be all of the lower tier sets thrown in a box.

The outer shell looks pretty good with the actual KNEX internals but those ball joints look really sad compared to the old BIONICLE sets.

I think I'll pass on this.

I love K'NEX, I remember building Metal Gear Rex out of it after playing Metal Gear Solid that I borrowed from a friend.
stood at about 3 feet tall, complete with walk ways that held it up... then one of my sister's friends came into my room and smashed it. prick.

Wow time flies. I used to be a fan of K'nex and sure they weren't as big as Lego but I still liked them. It's about time they got a slight advantage over LEgo and Megablock (ok sure they got those Mario Kart but they went by unnoticed).
