Dark Souls 2 Collector's Edition Prepare to Unbox

We unbox the Dark Souls II Collectors Edition.

So Dark Souls II came out this week [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/11097-Dark-Souls-II-Review-Dark-Souls-Refined], though sadly you'll have to wait until April 25th if you want to play it on the PC. It certainly leaves me in a awkward position since I'd greatly prefer it on the PC for the mods and tweaks, but I really want to keep playing.

If you've been a long time fan of the Souls series like I have, chances are that this collector's edition might have caught your fancy. If you want a closer look at what's inside, there's a gallery of photos below, but here's what you'll get in the box.

Black Armor Game Box
Official Soundtrack CD
Cloth Game Map
Limited Edition Art Book
12" Warrior Knight Figurine

For the most part, it's pretty standard fare, but it's all good quality. The figurine has a great level of detail on it, though the base of it looks like an afterthought compared to detail work done of the armor. It would still look well at home on a desk or shelf along with other various gaming paraphernalia. The cloth map feels well made, and won't likely fray. It is however more decorative than practical. The soundtrack and art book are just about what you'd expect. The music is good, a mix of bombastic tracks and softer melodic fare, but you may want to hold off on paging through the art book if you're the sort who wants to avoid all spoilers.

Honestly, even if the other goodies didn't really do anything for you, I'd highly recommend picking up the Black Armor Edition, which is sold separately, just for that awesome tin case. The picture probably does no justice to the raising that's on the front. It's really gorgeous looking. Though you'd still want to ensure that the soundtrack and that was worth the $20 hike for you.

The full Collector's Edition will set you back $120 and the Black Armor Edition is $80.

Here in the UK, you get a different bonus depending on where you ordered the CE from, for example, GAME offers a T Shirt, ShopTo offers iPhone 5 cover, Amazon offers art cards, etc. I went ahead and got it from Amazon, although I usually buy from ST, I don't own an iPhone 5. But I also really wanted a shirt and a poster, but didn't want to buy from GAME at the same time. =<

I'm eagerly anticipating this, pre-ordered it on Amazon for PC.

I love maps, artbooks and figurines so all of this sound real good.

I have pre-ordered mine. Sadly, I was a cheapskate and chose the "Free Shipping" option from Amazon, so I'm still waiting for them to ship it. BUT! I'm super excited for it. The map is what sold me. A cloth map just sounds so cool. And that figure will go well with all my Kotobukiya ones.

Just checked my favorite retailer. Doesn't seem to be a special edition for the PC. Or if there is, they don't have it.

But as the special edition for the 360 is 3 times the price of the standard edition for the PC, im going to have to go for the normal version.

I love figurines and maps and artbooks, but that is kinda bonkers.

I don't think I'd ever buy an enhanced edition of anything unless it was the same price or less than the regular one (and I adore Dark Souls), but I love that FROM isn't going to include exclusive weapons or anything like that while still making it worth the money for fans of such inclinations.

Wait.. I thought the Black Armor Edition came with the Collector's Edition? You know, where you get the extra weapons, shields, and armor in the start of Dark Souls 2? I got my Collector's Edition by pre-ordering it for the Xbox 360 and though I cannot play it until Easter, I am confused.

Even if it didn't come with that, I am honestly fine overall. The items in the Black Armor Edition comes later in the game anyhow and I don't mind waiting to achieve grabbing those up. Besides, I purchased an expensive version that certainly benefits and supports From Software :)
It does come in the Collector's Edition, but you can also buy the Black Armor Edition by itself if you didn't want to shell out another $40 for a statue, art book and such.
