This was a nicely dramatic episode. It shows how while in a bad scenario sometimes you just have to make the tough choices.

After thinking a bit about the episode I feel it would have been better for the flow of the season if this had aired a few weeks ago between the relatively boring "Rick hides under a bed" episode and the largely worthless "Beth's quest for booze" episode. It would have made the "Beth's quest" filler episode seem like more of an emotional buffer til they got back to heavier things and less of the near worthless filler it felt like also since the premier had scenes with the different groups out of chronological order finding out later what caused the fire would not have mattered much.

I was worried they were not going to kill her, going to leave her somewhere, or carol would take her off, that would be back, she has serial killer in her, and the only thing worse then someone killing to survive in a zombie apocalypse, is someone hunting people for fun.

Both children had problems and would probably have died in the long run. Lizzie was unable to accept that the dead weren't the people she knew. Mika, on the other hand, was unable to kill living things.

It was one of those episodes that showed the show can have its moments. The latter half of season 4 showed that you can't return to a normal life. In this episode's case, a child's innocence is something that can't return in apocalypse. That, or it shows that innocence has a link to becoming a psychopath. I'm not sure about the latter.

Unlike that thread that's going in the Off-topic, I wasn't exactly shocked by the recent episode since I didn't really cared for the girls in the first place. Lizzie end up being a psycho and Mika pacifist view will only get her killed. By all means it was still a powerful episode.

Jesus Christ Monkey Balls...that was a heavy episode. I've disliked Carol for a while and was pleased when she left. When she returned I was somewhat disappointed, but this episode gave me a reason to like her. She put on such a hard facade for a long time, so it was good to see that she's still soft inside.

That baby's plot armour is thicker than an Ultramarine's.

I don't know why I want the baby to die so much, I just do.

Judith's one thing, but I've always hated those damn kids since they first appeared on the show. Children in any horror...well anything (be it book, movie, game, etc.) are only there to be annoying and stupid and get better and more interesting character's killed. So I say good riddance to the little brats, though now I fear for the safety of all my favorite characters. I don't care what it is, but my favorite characters die in everything (or at least get really screwed over), so with the deaths of Mika and Lizzie, I know karma's going to be a ***** for Michonne, Rick, Carl, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, and even Bob after the previous episode.

Well, that's pretty fucked up. I mean, I understand Lizzie, but the baby hasn't even done anything.

OT: Pretty heavy episode. I had to watch some MLP to even that out.

It was a pretty good episode. I actually recognize the fascination with the morbid, with death, and at the same time the fear of it, in my little nieces who started to learn about that kind of stuff when both my grandparents died.

I don't want her to die, but she should've been dead. It gave a huge weight to things in the comic and the plot armor indeed cheapens the whole deal.

Huh... That actually makes more sense the more I think about it... Granted, the "Beth's quest" filler would of needed a "better" ending to justify that connection between the burning of the house full of walkers and the burned walkers that came out of the woods, but other than that I totally agree on the episode order you suggested... (Would probably work for the pending Season 4 marathon before the Season 5 premiere...)

Two things that, I think, would have made this a better episode:

One: Lizzie puts down Judith instead of Mika. That way you'd still have Mika around to plead for her sister's life when her sister was clearly incapable of doing so. I mean, it's one thing to put down the psychopath, even if it is a kid, but how much harder would it have been with Mika making the case that "she's still alive, maybe she can change, maybe we can watch her to make sure it doesn't happen again.." This would have also lead to a much more tension when the group inevitably meets up with Rick et al.. do they tell what really happened to Judith? And if they do, what happens then?

Two: Tyreese follows through on the logical conclusion when he learns how Carol betrayed him. It wasn't 10 minutes before that that he was talking to Carol about how he knew and trusted everyone around him, and didn't want to live in a place where he couldn't. Having it then turn out that not only was Lizzie a psycho, but Carol was the one who took out the two at the prison should have driven it home to him that there is literally no place on earth where he could trust everyone around him. So it would have been completely logical, understandable, but at the same time surprising to the audience if he'd instead taken his own life there. This would have left Carol with Judith, so again, it would have been no easy out for Rick when they finally meet up -- does he stick to his guns of thinking of her as untrustworthy, or does he relent? As it is now though, the path to Rick forgiving Carol has been made simple by Tyreese doing so, as he was the one most wronged by Carol, so how can Rick in good conscience not forgive her. Too easy.
Well, I can't necessary agree with the second one... I think that first one would have made me more uncomfortable to watch than how I felt while watching this episode[footnote]which was mostly me telling myself that both Lizzie and Mika needed to die at this point...[/footnote], since that would have just left a more worse taste in my mouth than Hershel's death at this point... Regardless, at least there's still a slim chance of Rick getting Judith back, which should knock more sense to him hopefully...

Edit (OT): Probably should not have re-watched this episode three times... (in a row, basically...)
Also, it looks like Terminus is going to be one hell of a "reunion" coming up, I tell you what...
