DriveClub Release Date 'Coming Soon'

"We are immensely proud of how the game is developing," says the game's Facebook page, "and we're confident you'll see why when we show you more."

Remember DriveClub, the would-be PS4 launch title that vanished into the never-know-where back in October 2013, and Shuhei Yoshida gave out free copies of Contrast [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/128818-Yoshida-DriveClub-Wont-Be-Here-Till-Early-2014] to sweeten the pill? At the time Yoshida claimed it would be worth the wait, and if the developers are to be believed the wait is almost over. But if you were wondering whether this announcement comes with any kind of actual release date, keep on hoping.

Says the official Facebook post:

We know you want news about DriveClub. We are going to bring you up to speed with a full ‪#‎DRIVECLUB‬ update soon, because we are immensely proud of how the game is developing and we're confident you'll see why when we show you more.

We are also really grateful for your ongoing support and enthusiasm. Your comments, tweets and emails are a huge source of motivation for the team and you keep us fired up and working hard to achieve our ambitions for the game.

Expect an official release date, full game details and new videos in the weeks to come. We'll be here to take questions and to chat to you too, so share a message with us and keep following for more updates. We're looking forward to showing you more!

Showing us more, maybe at confirmed lay-offs [http://www.e3expo.com/], promising that those lay-offs wouldn't affect development. Looks as if that was the shedding of the excess just before release; here's hoping DriveClub really is worth the wait.

They said this a couple months back. Goddamn it just announce it already! D:

Also, it's kinda weird/sad that we're now getting announcements for announcements.

So... they just announced an announcement? Why not just, y'know, announce the actual thing? D:

This was supposed to be a launch game.

In a way, it's good that they're taking their time to make things better / work, but holy crap - how bad is your planning that you make an announcement for a release date announcement for a game that was supposed to be here 5 months ago?

I have two words: "Gran Tourismo." In Italian, this means "System Seller"

Why should anybody care about this third rate NFS knock off on a system which exclusively owns the best driving game ever made?

Especially since it's more worth your money to buy the G27 racing wheel with clutch and 6-gear shift box than a ps4?

Even though my GT force Pro is compatible with the PS4, I wouldn't have bought the PS4 for some hackneyed arcade racer.

What exactly does this game have over GT? If somebody answers with "Driving MMO" I will laugh until I die from it.

I remember forgetting about this game... before seeing the first trailer for The Crew, nonetheless...

Still, this is better than an announcement for an announcement OF an announcement... Those kinds of announcements would bug a person who would be interested in a game such as Drive Club...

Too bad a wasn't one of them sooner, I guess?

You can't really compare the two, though. This is one of those games that is between a sim / arcade, which is perfect for someone like me.

Pure sims are often too boring and lifeless, in my experience, and pure arcade racers are way, way too floaty. Something like this and Grid seem to get a good balance between the two sub-genres. Hopefully, this will turn out good. Let's just wait and see.

I'm pretty sure the head developer of the project left a while ago, so I wouldn't be getting my hopes up to be honest.
