Titanfall's "Frontier's Edge" Second DLC Map Pack Revealed

Frontier's Edge will contain three additional Titanfall maps for $9.99.

Respawn has revealed some details for the second piece of Titanfall DLC. Named "Frontier's Edge", the map pack will contain three new maps, and retail for $9.99 (or at no additional cost for Titanfall season pass holders). The developer did not announce a release date for the DLC, but we can assume it won't be too far off.

The DLC will feature three new maps "including the isolated mining outpost of Dig Site, the exclusive beach resort of Haven and the mining hub on the side of a mountain known as Export".

No further information, such as whether the DLC will also include additional titans, weapons or game modes, was mentioned (thought it seems unlikely).

Resapwn has only just recently released Expedition, the first of the three confirmed Titanfall DLC packs, which contained three new multiplayer maps: Runoff, Swampland and War Games. Expedition, Frontier's Edge, and a third, unnamed DLC make up the $24.99 Titanfall season pass.

Additional game modes, as well as Titan burn cards, were also recently released as a free update for all players of the game.

However, for those of you hoping for some kind of single-player DLC, don't hold your breath, as Respawn specifically stressed that adding in single-player "would feel like a step backwards" [http://www.computerandvideogames.com/469580/titanfall-dev-returning-to-single-player-would-feel-like-a-step-backwards/] for the game.

Just about everything I've heard about Titanfall says that the limited mech and weapon selection means that the game hits a rut fairly quickly. So... they're releasing three new maps, and that's it? And no single-player experience for people who might be on the edge of buying it?

I dunno, Respawn. It's starting to seem like you're lining up for a Titanfail.

I recently played the Origin 48 hour time limited test of the game. And you know what? It was fun. I enjoyed it immensely even on my middle of the road machine with a decent-at-the-best-of-times connection. I made it to level fifteen and through both wings of the campaign in one day.

I didn't play at all on day two.

I think the game was certainly a step in the right direction mechanics-wise. The wall running felt fluid and hopping into you machine was practically instinctive.

But that's where the innovation ended. With the exception of the auto-pistol, the guns were pretty much your stock weapons (Assault rifle, SMG, shotgun, sniper rifle, etc.) and the upgrades felt wholly tacked on. Some weapons were borderline useless in some game modes (such as the Sniper rifle in any mode where the objective isn't solely killing pilots). Piloting the titans already felt sluggish and the guns, despite being heavy ordinance, had no weight to them.

Titanfall was a good launch title for the new generation, no doubt about it, but I think it needed a single player component and a lot more depth than what was offered.

I was just about to lose interest in Titanfall, but that massive update that made basically all the balance changes I ever wanted got me back into it, and I feel like supporting Respwan's continued dedication to not tacking on some shitty SP mode, so I'll probably be picking this up at some point.

not tacking on some shitty SP mode ... oh lovely. Because something that was basicaly STANDARD for all games getting removed is now considered an improvment. Lovely. It seems the companies have finaly won via Stockholm syndrome over comon sense.

Oh and another "hey we made 3 new maps, 10 dolars please" ... when adding a simple editor would have allowed for hundreds of maps to be made by now by the players. Oh, but doing that would reduce the income made by IDIOTS who are willing to shell out any money at all to pay for something that 10 years aho you could create yourself if the dev wasn't a money obsesed douchebag.

That's the problem when you make a dedicated multiplayer only game, it fizzles very quickly. It's why they release a new CoD and Battlefield every year. Sure those games have a 5 hour single player campaign where you murder brown people, but it doesn't detract from that these are for all intents and purposes, multiplayer games. Titanfall had a nice idea, but, no less than four days after it's release I had seen half a dozen copies with the used/trade-in sticker at my local EB's.

I am curious; How much more successful would the game have been had it included a strong single player story?

nice. always nice to have more maps. payed already for the season pass and so far im still havent regret a single cent.

the last update did some very good changes. loads faster now and at least you dont have to play the hardly played campaign to get all 3 titans. all available now. also that you can unlock some fixed pics for your titan is a small step in the right direction. custom made once would be better but hey, its a start i guess.
maybe the new DLC might contain some new features. but i kind of agree that a SP would be wrong now. titanfall is clearly for MP. im pretty sure if they would have added a SP, people would have complained about it as well.

While I consider the main game good value for money, this DLC is more than a little lacking. If it had an additional weapon, titan and a "mini-campaign" taking place on these three levels, I'd probably be a little happier to shell out, but as it stand this just looks like your typical EA cash-grab

Well I'll just take the money that I was going to spend on Titanfall and use that to get Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. I am NOT spending almost $100 for a game that will be completely useless within a year due to a complete lack of offline single player

Well I would have certainly bought it at launch with the season pass and laughed off the new CoD game as a copycat but since CoD is doing the one thing that Respawn refuses to do with Titanfall which also happens to be the very thing I judge a game's value on then Titanfall is worthless to me and as such I won't be playing it unless it is free. I got my fix in the "Beta" (It really was just a time-limited demo) anyway

It is still too little for too much. I really did consider getting Titanfall because the demo/beta (whatever that was) was actually a lot of fun, but it's too thin and lacking in content to justify buying it at all.

In addition if we assume that Advanced Warfare will follow the previous CoD's DLC (i.e 4 multiplayer maps + 1 Co-Op/Solo mode map/mission), that means that the DLC is cheaper in terms of individual maps (3 dollars per piece of content compared to 3.33).
