Doctor Who Season 8 Trailer Promises Daleks and Dinosaurs

New trailer gives us our first hint of what we'll see when Doctor Who returns to the small screen next month.

I've got to say: the very teasery trailers we've seen so far for slim pickings so far [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/135746-Doctor-Who-Season-8-Premieres-August-23rd], it seems a veritable feast to fans who have been waiting for the return of the Doctor since December's Time of the Doctor.

As to what's on deck for season 8, the trailer [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TivqZTq5u6Y] gives us our first real look at Peter Capaldi in the role of the Doctor, as he ruminates on the mistakes he's made and whether or not he's a good man. With 2000 years of misdeeds to look back on, this line of thinking could turn both the trailer and the season into something pretty grim, but the mood is broken with quick glimpses of the madcap action the new series is known for, with shots showing the ever-villainous Daleks and the return Madame Vastra (whom we know will be back alongside the rest of the Paternoster Gang, including Jenny and Strax). But as far as actual storylines, we've only gotten hints: we'll have to wait until August to see just what the Doctor's up against this season... but with both Daleks and dinosaurs, what could possibly go wrong?

You know, maybe it's that Capaldi sounds even more like Tucker in the last series of The Thick Of It, but I really want Roger Allam to be cast as The Master now. Think about it, he'd make a fantastic opposite to Simm's take on the character.

Holy crap, BBC finally decided to show the guy we all knew was the Doctor after months of teasing. What is this, Christmas already?

Also, they're going "Into Darkness" with the Inception "BWAAAAAAA" sound? Did JJ Abrams get hired?

I've seen the first episode, it looks...promising.

There's someone at the end that made my Classic Who loving self get all 'o, my'.

At the 27 second mark...is that Robo-Garrus?

Honestly, having a new Doctor is enough to get me watching it again, even if for a little bit. It makes it feel a little less routine when another actor comes along to bring his(or her *fingers crossed*) own spin on it.

I'm afraid that this season is going to be as crap as the last one, I really ,really hope it isn't though.

Wait, the Doctor is 2000 years old now? Did he exist on that locked planet for 800 years? Wha?

Was still better than the Eleventh Doctors second season, especially once Rory and Amy left the TARDIS for good.

Although, to be fair, being better then that season isn't hard.
