"Assassin's Creed Experience" Tests Parkour Skills at SDCC

San Diego Comic Con attendees can run, leap, and climb their way across an Assassin's Creed-themed parkour course inspired by the French Revolution.

Think you've got parkour skills? It's time to show them off, Assassin's Creed-style. Ubisoft is bringing a crazy course to San Diego Comic Con later this month, as well as some parkour experts to show attendees how it's done. Dubbed the "Assassin's Creed Experience," the course will challenge you to "run across rooftops, perform a 25-foot Leap of Faith, and a whole lot more!"

Leading Ubisoft's merry band of parkour artists is Chief Parkour Officer Michael Zernow, and no, I did not make that title up. In the video shown here, he shows off "the ultimate Assassin's playground," and we also get a glimpse of parkour experts in action.

I've parkoured my way across virtual versions of Renaissance Italy, Colonial America, and the pirate-ridden Caribbean, but I never imaged I could do any of the death-defying stunts the Assassin's Creed protagonists could. Seeing real live people pull off these kinds of stunts is incredible--it's amazing what people can do with their bodies. I almost wish I was going to SDCC so I could give it a try; instead I'll stay home and eat pizza.

For those willing to give it a shot, you can try the course across the street from the convention center. San Diego Comic Con International runs from July 24-27, 2014.

No women allowed :p

Looks quite amusing though, I would give it a crack and it would most likely crack a bone or two.

Well, I wonder how many people are going to get hurt?

It looks cool but someone is going to screw up.

Holy crap! Frosty! I used to train with that dude haha. I seriously had no idea his actual name was Michael. He works (or at least worked) at the Tempest Freerunning Academy right by my house, an AWESOME place to freerun if you're ever in L.A. and looking.

But of course, it wouldn't be the true Ass Creed experience otherwise! Plus it's too expensive to have parkourists teach men AND women how to jump off stuff.

Don't women have teh boobs? I hear they create anti balance fields and that their menstruation attracts bears! HOW CAN YOU TRUST SOMEONE LIKE THAT TO KNOW HOW TO RUN?!

OT: This is a great and sweet idea... for those people who regularly engage in activity. Sprains, pulls, slips, bang ups are almost assured in this whole thing.

I know they ripped the idea off of the Ninja Warrior/Takeshi's Castle and I know everyone will sign a release to prevent the Con and Ubisoft for being sued after something goes wrong... But man, I don't know who thought this up. We sit in front of a screen as a way to past the time. It's a good chance that not a lot of us (I'm a personal trainer, so yeah, I get there are gamers who are athletic) good for something like this.

But hey, always happy to be surprised.

I can see 100 different ways I could personally injure and/or kill myself there. 10 more just walking to the entrance.

What's with all the marketing speak? Isn't this video aimed at fans, not a board meeting?

This will result in at least one major injury. It is still way better thought out than some of Acclaim's old marketing nightmares.

Like the one where they offered to pay people's speeding tickets to promote a racing game, or had people sell ad space on their tombstones.

You know tat so many people are going to look at this and go "Pfft, easy.", and will proceed to eat shit in so many different ways.

Still, looks cool.

Yeah, you may want to do a few of those before tackling the course.
