From its IMDB page [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2652118/] it looks like the only returning cast member is Michelle Yeoh.

Not this coming December but December 2015, it'll be here soon enough, and hopefully Disney is able to infuse the series with some new blood.

Well, I assume since, you know...

But Christ, why? I mean, the end was pretty frikking definitive.

I agree with you, this seems like the answer to a question no one asked. I don't know why they would wait fifteen years to make a sequel though, I guess it says something about the quality of the scripts that they were getting.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2? ...what?!?
How the hell are they going to shoehorn in a sequel to that one?

CT,HD2??????? How very odd. So long as Michelle Yeoh is in it, I'm sure I'll check it out. She may be in her 50's but she's still super attractive.

It's all about franchising. I'm surprised we haven't actually seen Citizen Kane 2 yet. But 30 years after Highlander, I'm not surprised they're doing a sequel to something with closure.

Though I hope the sequel's a little better than Highlander's.

Yeah, but does the name 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' really have that much pull? I mean, I know it was big at the time, but you hardly ever hear people mention it anymore. And with Highlander I could kinda understand why they made a sequel, because it was a cult hit about dudes chopping eachother's heads off. Crouching Tiger was a drama with some action setpieces. It'd be like making a sequel to Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

Hollywood has had the mentality that a minor name is better than no name at all.

I mean, I'm not going to pretend that the idea of sequels and remakes is completely new or something solely wrong with modern movies, but they've really been going at any "name" imaginable. It seems to be whatever they can get their hands on, and barring A-List material they will move down the ladder. I don't know, CTHD still seems weird to me, but it's not a complete shock.

This is something that was parodied by Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and that was over ten years ago.

....God, I'm old.

Which would make good sense, as the original was based on excerpts from a 21-part (or rather, 20 and a half) book series. Still enough material there, believe me. :)

But I agree, making a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon just seems plain weird to me...

I know, but that movie too was a drama. And franchising dramas is just... strange.

But didn't Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon also came from a pretty long book series? If I not mistaken, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is the 5º in the series.
So maybe they are adapting some the other books? Maybe?

Still sounds pretty iffy thought.

No Zhang Ziyi, no interest.

I don't think there are a surprising number of big sequels really though.

Didn't expect a new Terminator movie myself, really liked those that had Arnie so consider me curious about it.
Hope that the new Star Wars movie will be atleast decent aswell but we'll see.
