Jackie Chan Asked to be in the Expendables 4

Jackie Chan approached to be in the next Expendables movie, after refusing the offer for Expendables 2 and 3.

Sylvester Stallone really wants Jackie Chan in one of his Expendables movie, and Jackie Chan is considering the offer, with certain stipulations.

Talking to Den of Geek [http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/jackie-chan/31692/jackie-chan-interview-chinese-zodiac-and-retiring], film star Jackie Chan mentioned that Stallone has asked him to be in the next Expendables movie, Expendables 4, but that this isn't the first time he's been approached by him. "Sly wants me for Expendables 4," he starts, "I said, 'okay.' Because they already asked me to be in two and three, but I refused. Well, I didn't refuse, but I said, 'Sly, can't we just do you and me? Not just a bunch of people...'"

He further elaborated his reasoning, "So if I'm in Expendables 4, I want it to be me and him... Then it might be interesting. Otherwise you just come out for five minutes." This sentiment seems to be in relation to cameos other known action stars have had in the sequels, namely Bruce Willis and Chuck Norris who had little screen time in the movies.

Jackie Chan is also in talks to be in Rush Hour 4 and Drunken Master 3.

Given recent news that Expendables 3 was a box office flop on its opening week [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/136873-Friday-Box-Office-Expendables-Cant-Beat-Turtles-Raccoon], becoming the lowest box-office of its franchise, Chan may pass again on the offer.

Okay, another Rush Hour isn't too far-fetched, but holy crap, there's gonna be a Drunken Master 3? I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS A 2!!

More on topic, he has a very valid concern. Yes The Expendables has quite the list of action icons which can be great and fun, but it can very quickly get to the point where there is simply too much. I haven't seen 3 yet, but it seems that they're getting pretty damn close to packing actors in like sardines.

Yeah, the movie "The Legend of the Drunken Master" can be considered a sequel to the original one, if only because of Jackie's involvement with it.

Link to the what could be considered the first film of the franchise. I think it's pretty good, but then again I like most of Jackie Chan's movies.

I had no idea there was a second too.

OT: Yeah, I don't know if I can see Mr.Chan knifing dudes in the throat, he's like a goofy uncle. I'm gonna see Expendables 3 because I always enjoy the third act but why Sly feels the need to set up these long ass first and second acts seems like a waste of time. I'm all for a solid story in my action films but if you're going for the fun times, keep it simple.

I'll see it if he's the main villain, and not a corny throw-away villain either. I want Jackie to make a few "Expendables" live up to their name.

Ahh, okay. And it was actually The Legend of the Drunken Master I had seen. So I guess I didn't know there was a first! Thanks for the info, I'll definitely get around to watching that. ^^

Jackie Chan only plays the patriotic 'hero' nowadays. Never the bad guy. His more recent movies (that he directs) aren't particularly good and are more of an ego boost in their style, writing. They of course still make a ton of money. Since we all know that in the movie business quality isn't related to profit.

I'm more-so afraid of Rush Hour 4. The first two were fine, but Chan and Tucker were way too old for 3. Actually, wasn't The Kung Fu Kid supposed to be Jackie's start at doing less stunts/endangering maneuvers for all of his movies?

Yeah, he has recently said he is not doing the more action based movies anymore because his body can't keep up with it and frankly, he can't be bothered.

Well, there is a reason for that. Mr. Chan is now part of the Communist Party and he is one of their mouthpieces, and the latest of his films have all been pro-Communist, pro-Communist Party and anti-West films.

And yes, he is having a massive ego-drive at the moment. Between having several affairs and dipping his fingers into Chinese politics and acting in a very... unkind way to a lot of people at the moment, his behaviour hasn't been very good recently.

Sadly, I wrote half a dissertation on Mr. Chan's film as a Communist mouthpiece before I decided to move to China and I really didn't want that to be associated with my name when I'm about to live there.

Ay, no problem mate. Hope you enjoy it. I haven't been keeping up with Chan's recent activities, but never noticed that he started being pro-communist. Might have to take another look at whats up with him now.

I would rather see Die Hard 6 in the style of Die Hard 3, but with Chan replacing Jackson. I can't explain why but I just think Willis + Chan would be a fun movie to watch.

After seeing Expendables 3 and feeling it was pretty bloated cast wise, especially given the new blood characters, I can absolutely agree with Chan here. I wouldn't say that it should just be Chan and Sly but it should definitely have a pared down cast. Reduce the other guys to basically cameos and focus on Sly and maybe 4 others.

They should have make each new implement about the new stars they're introducing and let Sly take a step back, that would've made it more interesting.

How does the writing process for these films work?

Do they get the actors first, and then just kind of feng shui them around a generic action script, or do they really have a part for Jackie Chan in mind that they have been repeatedly cutting out?

I think Sly really wants to get a Jet Li vs Jackie Chan fight scene in the Expendables.

He always had the "no bad guys" rule. I remember that they wanted him to play the villain in Lethal Weapon 4 but he refused so they got Jet Li.

But there is a difference between that, and let's say...

CZ12, where Jackie beats his way through hundreds of white British people who are the evil bastards who raped the Imperial Palace personally 200 years ago and stole loads of Chinese relics, and the film is realising that all Chinese people should be doing nothing but fighting for their country against the evil foreigners and their evil ways.

Huh, the more you know. So he's.........kinda a villain in real life now? (j/k) Sad to hear, and very true Marurder, he's only ever been a good guy past and present which is why the shock of seeing him as a villain would have sold me on seeing an Expendables movie by itself.

Anyone else think it's kind of ironic that they are approaching Jackie Chan to be in a movie that is a throwback to all the meathead, big guy 80's action movies, considering he's the one who basically killed that genre?

Well, I can't give all the credit to him, but I do remember seeing "Rumble in the Bronx" in the theaters, and suddenly realizing how incredibly slow-paced and dull the fight scenes I'd seen from Stallone, Van Damme, Schwarzennegger, etc. were. After that, it seemed like they started making less and less movies and we started to move towards bringing in Asian fight choreographers for American movies (ie. the Matrix).
