P.T. Gets the Minecraft Treatment

It might not be quite as chilling, but this faithful Minecraft rendition of the Silent Hills demo shows serious dedication.

Sure, you may have experienced Trislux [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/136801-Hideo-Kojima-and-Guillermo-del-Toro-Team-for-New-Silent-Hill] has recreated that godforsaken hallway--which you will see over and over again--in the massively popular world-building game. The resulting video shows a pretty good adaptation, although it doesn't quite match the tense atmosphere and frightening moments of the actual Silent Hills demo.

The slow pacing, strategically placed doors, and repeating scenery are nice touches, though it's just not the same without a crying fetus in the bathroom sink. The ambiance created by the few sound effects helps create an atmospheric vibe. Overall, it's a creative way to play Minecraft, and it's great that the community is still coming up with new ways to create three years after the game's initial release.

Of course, this isn't the first time another property has been made by avid Minecraft fans; the film Spirited Away [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/134166-BioShock-Infinites-Floating-City-of-Columbia-Re-Created-in-Minecraft] also received the Minecraft treatment, to name just a couple. With so little details having been revealed about Silent Hills, this video is a nice reminder of the buzz created by that one vague playable teaser. One can only hope that Silent Hills, whenever it comes out, will also be worthwhile enough to be recreated in another game.

I much rather preferred Yahtzee's version :p

It's always neat to see what people can do in MC.

That said...if I had been playing PT with the sounds of sheep, chickens, cows, and pigs constantly in the background, I can't help but imagine it would have taken away from the creepy effect that they were going for. :p

Uh no. No. Sorry, but copying someone else's new idea into Minecraft is not the same as creating new things in Minecraft. If it was, the the Scary Movies are the cutting edge of innovation and originality.
Look, I'm not saying this isn't cute, but it kinda shows the exact opposite of what you said. This shows the absolute barren wasteland that is Minecraft players and their utter lack of originality.
This is Minecraft fanfiction, nothing more. Glad to see PT and Silent Hills getting some coverage, but Minecraft has run it's blocky course.

As far as Minecraft re-creations go, a single hallway with a corner isn't exactly the most difficult build. Sure, it's accurate, just not all that impressive compared to Columbia or Spirited Away.
