Had fun during my brief 12 minutes or so with the game. Was actually topping my teams score comfortably until my game crashed mid match which was kind of depressing haha
The tech archer along with the gadgeteer class that wasn't available are both counted as 'support' classes so kind of hard to judge them purely on 1v1 combat prowess or their ttk.
The biggest concern is how they manage to balance the combat so that it's neither a spam fest nor so technical that it puts off new players. Since everyone playing the demo was new to the game, the combat felt kind of generic due to a lot of people ignoring the special attacks each class has in addition to adrenalin mode, which is like a temporary super saiyan power up that you can build up and activate on demand. The latter might be another area that will require balance as I was easily able to go 1v3 and win while powered up as an enforcer.
Also the above article omitted the fact they will be adding a third faction (not revealed yet) in addition to the royal marines and cossacks.
I asked the community manager and a dev as to whether they will have mod tools at launch but it seemed to be off the cards at least at the moment which was disappointing. I also asked him why they chose to restrict the beta to AUS/NZ and apparently he'd been begging the Bethesda head office for ages to give the oceanic community something to get behind so that was certainly admirable.
http://www.battlecrythegame.com/ Can sign up for the Beta there, was told it would be pretty easy to get in as they are keen to get as many aussies and nz'ers involved as possible.
