Dark Souls Statues Capture the Creepiness of the Game

Sculptor Peter Nordstrom sells custom made Dark Souls statues at his Etsy storefront.

Dark Souls is a game renowned almost as much for its disturbing atmosphere as it is for its intense challenge. No small portion of this is owed to the game's enemies which, in a word or two, are just plain creepy. From the flimsiest of zombies to the deadliest of dragons, Dark Souls' monster design does a fantastic job of crafting creatures that will give you nightmares long after you've slain them. In other words, they're just the sort of thing you want decorating a shelf in your bedroom.

If owning a miniature version of a Dark Souls monster is something that interests you, you might want to check out Peter Nordstrom's <a href=https://www.etsy.com/shop/OriginalStatues?ref=pr_shop_more>Etsy storefront. For some time now, he's been selling a line of custom made statues based on characters and enemies from <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/demons%20souls?os=demons+souls>Demon's Souls and <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/8802-Dark-Souls>Dark Souls. Costing between $50-$300, Nordstrom's statues include characters like Garl Vinland, Artorious the Abysswalker and more. Speaking about the origins of the statues, he revealed that they're a byproduct of his experiences working with Dark Souls publisher <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/bandai%20namco>Bandai Namco.

"My love and obsession with sculpture, along with a little luck, landed me a great opportunity to work with Namco Bandai Games America in creating statues from their hit game, Dark Souls, in 2011," <a href=https://www.etsy.com/people/futantshadow?ref=owner_profile_leftnav>he explained. "They had me make them 5 statues to give away in their "Treasures Untold" contest, then another 4 after that." Fans loved his statues so much that he began receiving regular doses of mail asking him to make more. Initially daunted by the expenses of sculpting individual statues from scratch, he taught himself how to create custom molds so he could produce and sell the more affordably.

The contents of his Etsy shop aren't even the full extent of what Nordstrom has for sale, either. If you visit his DeviantArt page, there are several other pieces that you can contact him about and purchase. Check out his work and let us know what you think. Are they delightfully dark or do his sculptures lack soul? (See what I did there?)

Oh sweet Lord Gwyn, I need that kneeling statue! Time to start saving some serious cash. I wish I was this talented. Impressive work to say the least.

The proportions on that kneeling elite knight are little too goofy for my tastes, I like the others quite a bit more (the one with Artorias and puppy Sif is heartbreaking)

I'm glad to see a game I like has inspired a great artist.

Praise the sun.

EDIT: Balls to me, I've been fooled by perspective. I checked out his deviantart page and the elite knight proportions are fine.

One question I have from this article; How is he doing this and making money w/o getting problem from the owning company? I know in the article that he was commissioned to make statues for the CE editions on DS2, but that doesn't mean he can go into business for him self with their product.

I logged in to answer your question.
He has a business relation with CAPCOM. The foto with the Elite Knight was a commission he made for me ( i am a very happy man !! ). CAPCOM was so impressed, they gave him permission to make more DS statues.
I am sure he is gonna make Bloodborne statues as well :).
Please check his FB page.( Peter Nordstrom original statues ) You can ask him more question's if you want.

Salute

If I was employed, I'd be all over the Siegmeyer and Solaire statues. They look pretty sweet and would look great watching me as I get me ass handed to me in Dark Souls 2.

SO AWESOME. Yet I know I'd just end up setting it on a shelf and only looking at it occasionally. BUT IT's SO AWESOME. But it costs way more than the actual game itself. BUT IT'S SO AWESOME. But my room is already cluttered with junk I don't really use or appreciate. BUT IT'S SO AWESOME! Why can't I just download a wallpaper of the character instead and look at that. BUT IT'S SO AWESOME.

I think they are good, but I wouldn't pay more than $50. I would urge traffic to actually check out the guy's Etsy; he has more pictures there taken from different angles. These images make the figures look dis-proportioned.

The Artorias and Sif statue is so sad... I want to buy one, but I have no money. Definitely gonna check out this stuff later, though.
