Ant-Man Poster Thinks Big, Goes Small

Marvel continues strategy to re-brand troubled production as "I Meant To Do That: The Movie"

There's simple, there's minimalism and then there's the first official poster for Ant-Man; [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/ant-man] which cheekily offers a "life-sized" view of its teeny-tiny titular hero.

Humor (and/or shocking split [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/139278-Marvel-Releases-Ant-Sized-Ant-Man-Teaser] with original director Edgar Wright.

Comedy specialist Peyton Reed has since Agent Carter. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/135118-Marvel-Names-New-Director-and-Writer-For-Ant-Man]

Man they keep on making tiny/ ant gag aren't they? Heck not even that Antz film took up the tiny/ ant gag (I think they poster had a manify glass on the character).

I highly doubt using a manify glass will reveal a decent resolution image of Ant-man althought would it be the same thing if they release it in physical poster form?

If this "haha he's an ant geddit" schtick is what's to be expected from the movie, then I am already disappointed.

I thought that the trailer thing was pretty bad too, but they are really stretching that unfunny joke to breaking point with this.

This it? Is this what we're going to get from now till It's out? Small gags and stuff we can't see. He could have his dick out bring himself to self pleasure but what's the point? Only the marketing men would know.

Saw the full trailer, film looks good. I get the impression that the nerd community will be determined to hate on this because they ditched Edgar Wright.

It's better than some overused template of the main characters staring seriously out of the page sort of poster.
I'm still not interested in the movie but if you can inject humor into the poster it bodes well for there being decent humor in the movie I guess.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think it's damn brilliant and, at the very least, different.

And I have no vested interest Ant-man whatsoever. I only know Pym from the animated features and he's a dick so having the "second" Ant-man be the defacto MCU Ant-man is fine as well. And even then, I never found him that interesting - and it still looks cool. I'm not sure how much is down to that first "proof of concept" clip that came out years ago, though.

I need to see more footage before I judge. I'm one of those who became sceptical about the film after Wright's departure, but Marvel haven't yet made an awful film* so I have faith. I like Paul Rudd, and was happy when they cast him, but I don't know enough about Ant-Man to know if any of this will be worthwhile (apart from Pym creating ULTRON and being one of the first Avengers). The trailer didn't really tell me much about what I will be seeing, just showed me people. Need more footage!

*Iron Man 2 and Incredible Hulk aren't that bad, just underwhelming. To me, Thor is the worst, and even that has entertainment value)
