Community's Season Six Premiere Date Revealed

[yahoo_screens=community-cast-announces-season-6-162500604.html]

Yahoo has released a new video announcement featuring the cast of Community and a new premiere date.

The cult series Community will make its Yahoo debut next month on March 17th. Yahoo revealed the show's season six premiere date in a video announcement earlier today featuring the show's cast. Unlike its previous seasons, which aired on NBC, season six's thirteen episodes will only be available via Yahoo's video streaming service Yahoo Screen. The season will open with two new episodes, followed by two more every following Tuesday.

Community's path to season six is, arguably, one of the more tumultuous television stories in recent memory. The series spent the better part of its existence perched on the edge of cancellation cliff due to its consistently middling ratings. Despite this, NBC continued to renew the series. When it hit season four however, conflicts with creator <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/dan%20harmon?os=dan+harmon>Dan Harmon came to a head, prompting NBC <a href=http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/communitys-dan-harmon-reveals-wild-586084>to remove him from its production. After an even more lackluster season four however, Harmon returned to lead the show through its fifth season, after which NBC finally <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/134384-NBC-Cancels-Community>pulled the plugged on the whole shebang. While many assumed this would be its end, rumors began to emerge that it could be revived via streaming services like Netflix. <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/135789-BREAKING-Community-Will-Return-For-Sixth-Season>In June 2014, Sony Pictures Television confirmed that it would be shooting a new season for Yahoo Screen.

Speaking as a huge Community fan, I couldn't be more excited for season six. The show's oddball mixture of sitcom tropes with nerd homage and satire never ceases to entertain me, and while it's a shame that the new season will see the departure of another introduce new ones who immediately mesh with the show's unique tone. Now we just need get that movie <a href=http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/21/community-comic-con-dan-harmon-season-6_n_3632836.html>out of the way and we'll all be able to die happy.

No Troy, no Shirley and no Pierce. It's just not the same. The real show ended after season 4. Season 5 seemed like a spin-off. There were a few good episodes in season 5, like the Ass Crack Bandit one, but I didn't care much for the rest of the season. Maybe I'll tune in on this just because I love Community. We'll see.

I disagree. For me the show ended after season 3. Season 4 was just so bad. Even season 5 was better than that, but could not reach the quality of the first three seasons.

Season 4 was rough for sure, but it did definitely close on a note that felt very appropriate for the overall arc of the series. I still loved season 5, though. :)

>only on Yahoo Screen

Until someone uploads a torrent of it and everyone just downloads it...

Hopefully enough people actually watch it on Yahoo Screen to merit it coming back again.

We get to skip February? Woo, my birthday is coming earlier!

OT: I hope they can still get the same feel on the show without so many of the characters. Season five was going pretty good in my eyes until they lost Troy, then it kind of fell off.

Yes it will never be the same as with the original cast. However, the show's writing is still good in my opinion and to me it's the most original television show I've ever seen. The power of the show is not so much the characters, but the general tone and style. I feel sad for losing Pierce, Troy and Shirley but I'm looking forward to where it goes next.

Goddammit, when will this show die? I hold up the first season as being near perfect and the second season as just shy of it, but dammit, they've done the Friends/HIMYM thing of just going on too long. I wish they had chosen and planned for it to end at season 3 with everyone graduating (rather than the stupid insane Chang plotline which took a hilarious character who had the potential to become really interesting and then just flushed it away) and it could have shined on in our memories as being short, sweet and too good to last.
