Five Nights at Freddy's 3 Suddenly Appears on Steam

The third installment of survival horror series Five Nights at Freddy's has appeared for sale on Steam with very little fanfare.

you can buy it right now! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/10005-Five-Nights-at-Freddys-and-This-War-of-Mine-Review]

Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is a direct sequel to the first title, and is set thirty years in the future. The official Steam description of the title states:

Thirty years after Freddy Fazbear's Pizza closed it's doors, the events that took place there have become nothing more than a rumor and a childhood memory, but the owners of "Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction" are determined to revive the legend and make the experience as authentic as possible for patrons, going to great lengths to find anything that might have survived decades of neglect and ruin.6

At first there were only empty shells, a hand, a hook, an old paper-plate doll, but then a remarkable discovery was made...

The attraction now has one animatronic.

The original title was praised by critics for being a unique take on the survival horror genre, with a particular emphasis on its simplistic design, along with how its gameplay mechanics and aesthetics contributed to an overall feeling of fear and paranoia. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 told the same story but in the shoes of a different security guard.

Man, I just watched a youtuber play the first two nights, and I actually shouted in surprise at one of the jump scares. This new game is a totally different beast than the previous two.

I've been really enjoying the story as told in the first two games: looking forward to seeing what comes next.

And yes, since you ask, I am too much of a chicken to play the game on my own. That's what youtube is for.

Saw Markiplier's video of it annnnnnnnd YUP bring me my brown pants!

I wonder how long the creator is gonna keep this gravy train rolling. I know some people are complaining that these are coming out too soon after the alst, but they're technically less complicated than Myst and cost less than a Baconator combo meal. What's the problem?

I'm not a big fan of horror games because of the jumpscares. And FNAF is all about jumpscares.

I have absolutely zero urge to play any of the 5 Nights at Freddy's games, yet I'm super stoked about this release. And the only reason for that is that I genuinely find the lore interesting. I honestly can't wait for the next Game Theory lore video based on this game.

So the game appeared suddenly and unexpectedly so as to surprise its audience? Well, you can't say the developer doesn't stick to his strengths.

I don't blame him for the quick release schedule. What they do they do well, and you can see that he's improving the production values as he goes along.

I had just watched Markiplier play on it and while the first jumpscare did make me jump but after that I got used to it.

Still it make me wonder about the whole "hallucination" if t he vent stop working, is the whole place drugged or has a gas inside the place?

Haven't watched an LP yet, but can I just say that the OP's screenshot is absolutely pants-wrecking?

Looks like the dev took people's complaints that the animatronics "weren't scary enough" and fixed it. ;____;

I watched a LP of the game, jumped once, and then it was the same jump scare again and again. It might be different of different nights, but it got pretty stale after the first scare.

That being said, I am always interested in the backstory behind it all, so when Game Theory does that again, I am going to be all over that.

Woo! I love it when games are released like this. Just outta nowhere, cut out all that "hype" and "having to be patient and wait for when the game finally comes out" bullshit. The only thing that could be better if they'd hype it up the hour before and when asked when it's coming out, he says "...in about an hour".

As for the game itself, haven't seen it yet but I am a fan of the games despite never actually touching them. The sequel somehow managed to top the original in such a short time. If this sequel does it too, might as well go out in a storm with a bottle.

So this release, came out of nowhere suddenly and surprised a lot of people. Even the release is a jumpscare now! We're going into meta territory!

Maybe it's because I fandomed too hard with the previous games (and 2 was kind of a disappointment to me.) but I just can't bring myself to really care about this game. I'm burnt out on it. Maybe this game is actually good. I'll wait for the hype do die down to see what the final verdict is.

Second game left me feeling sour. It wasn't scary, it was a micromanagement hell and losing a single night because you didn't put the mask on in like a millisecond was fucking stupid and cheap as hell.

I can assure you that the third game's fairly different. Can't guarantee you'll like it, but it does seem like Scott Cawthon listened to the criticisms of FNaF 2.

From what I understand, Scott said that, barring spinoffs or games inspired by it, this will be the Last Five Nights At Freddy's game. He said it was always going to be a trilogy and that is not up to negotiation, no matter how popular.

This is exactly how I feel about the series.

I'm interested in the lore and the atmosphere is consistently enthralling with a pretty minimalistic approach, but I can't play the games...too much of a flailing ninny to muster up the courage necessary.

Right there with Yahtzee, actually. I can't do jump scares and I can't do prolonged, unrelenting stress.

I can't believe I'm actually invested in this series. But I am, and now I am off to watch someone torment themselves so I can learn more of that delicious lore. Which probably tastes better than the pizza.
