GTA Online Heists Are (Finally) Live

The long-delayed heists mode has finally come to GTA Online.

The fair share of delays [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/139936-Rockstar-Games-Grand-Theft-Auto-V-PC-Delay-April-14-GTA], but now it is finally in the hands of players.

"Heists, a brand new 4-player cooperative gameplay experience for Grand Theft Auto Online, giving players the chance to team up and pull off a string of intense, multi-part heists, raids and robberies across Los Santos and Blaine County, is now available for free inside Grand Theft Auto Online," posted Rockstar in an official blog post [http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/52402/gta-online-heists-now-available?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=heists&utm_campaign=heists_03102015].

Alongside heists, today's GTA V patch brings with it new Adversary Modes, daily objectives, free roam activities, and a bunch of new vehicles and outfits.

"Heists are now available for free inside Grand Theft Auto Online for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One (PC players will also get Heists as part of their GTA Online experience when GTAV launches for PC on April 14th). To get it, just start up GTAV from your online-connected console and follow the update prompts on screen. For a complete list of all of today's updates, check out the official notes at the Rockstar Support site [https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/204997567]."

There's NO WAY this is going to work. Too many people will all be overloading the servers at once. I'm going to wait a few days, let things die down.

Meanwhile, on Steam, Payday 2 reliably has over 30,000 playing it at any given time with tons of great content and enjoyable gameplay, often giving out the stuff for free. It released in the same year as GTA V, and you can get a quad pack for about $20 on a Steam sale.
Pretty different games there, Ive had payday 2 since it was free on psn and have hardly touched it, but I've played more gta then any other game in recent memory (including some good pc titles)
I understand people have different tastes, but even if payday had double the original content it still would sit I played in my steam library.

I managed to play on full heist (basicly the tutorial one up to two players), that one had cutscenes (dont know if its something that the other will have as much) and the missions were very similar to how they are in the single player where the player is tasked to do very specific things while other very specific things can happen, it isnt just "pick up that object, when object is picked up some random enemies spawn with a 20 second delay".

It was fun and there is a lot of new clothing and mechanics (you can now even point at any direction to give visual feedback to your teammates).

I did like Payday 1 a lot but Payday 2 is ass and has a shitton of paid DLC while GTA V is perfectly playable without needing to spend extra cash while aving every DLC for free. Payday 2 even manages to be more grindy then GTA V. Also understand the scale and scope of both games.

I played it on the 10th at about 7 PM (Australian EST) and it downloaded in about 30 mins (4.2 GB at ~100 mb/s) and played fine. If you're still waiting, you can probably chance it working fine.[footnote]I do realise this may be because most of the world was probably asleep/didn't have the patch yet, but that's my experience.[/footnote]

If anyone still has GTA V, play the heists. If you enjoyed the single player ones, these will be fun. Just, try and play with friends. It's a hell of a lot more fun.

Saw Gamespot stream Heists yesterday. They were not working yet due to awful connection problems.
The Heists were working fine, but getting onto the Rockstar servers was a mare because the GTA-playing population of America effectively DDoSed itself. I was playing Heists with my friends for most of the day yesterday without any connection issues what-so-ever and then from 9 or 10 pm GMT onwards the servers just fell over as folks from over the pond got home from work/school and flooded the servers.

For me this is "too little too late" as I was completely done with GTA V like, literally a year ago.

Payday 2 just released it's Hotline Miami 2 update with a ton of new masks, some new weapons, Jacket as a playable character and a lovely "sociopath" perk achievement :)

You don't actually need the DLC to play Payday 2. Owning the Heist DLC lets you host the DLC heist, and grants access to the masks and weapons from the heist pack.

Entirely this. I don't even remember when I last touched that game, all I remember was that it was before the one year mark last October. Also, the choices of things to do in online got pretty stale within a few weeks at most.

Yeah, these heists are more than a year too late Rockstar.
Then again, I never bothered with the online part of the disc so I might not even download this update. It'll only hog more room on the harddrive.
