Meant to be a cross between Halo and something else?
It's a cross between Halo and a different Halo; the Forerunner Penn and Teller linked them together and no one could pull them back apart.

Another punch in the nuts to the XBox controller. Critical Miss went for the latest one (XBOne), and now it's EDA against the very first one. I feel like we just completed an existential loop.

I really loved what they gave Rad to sleep in lol. But gotta say, will science ever get to a point they can freeze our bodies but keep us alive for days / months / years before we wake up again? Cause I ... I don't know. Anything can go wrong and we can end up dead somehow.
But, who doesn't want to be chillin' in cryostasis?

OT: Well, I guess this radical day's not going to give anyone the cold sholder any time soon...

Annoyingly for me, the original Xbox controller (the huge one) is the only controller I've found that comfortably fits my hands.

Going to have to disagree with Erin here. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbital_%28The_Culture%29]

Though if they were joined like that, then yes.

The double ring is stupid, but are you implying the single ring from Halo is dumb? How else are you gonna get gravity and a day/night cycle approaching a planet without making a whole planet?

The double ring dealie probably is dumb, but yeah, the original Halo ring is actually ripped right from Larry Niven's Ringworld, which was widely regarded as one of the better hard SF expressions on weird future alien planet engineering, and back in the sixties and seventies people regularly worked out and admired the math and physics behind the concept of a ring world.

Also, Halo stole the flood concept from Rowley's Vang novels (they admitted it) and probably the Spartan concept from Starship Troopers. Which, of course, is why Halo remains so frickin awesome.

A Halo ring is in orbit around a star rather than fully encircling it. Also, Ringworld has an interior ring of structures called "shadow squares" between the larger habitat area and the star to give it a day-night cycle. The Halos are much closer to Iain M. Banks's Orbitals (linked above), which Bungie has openly stated.

Plus, one of Banks's novels is about a fanatically religious hierarchical empire of alien races fighting a war of conquest around massive ring-shaped space habitats, so the inspiration is quite obvious.

This, Bungie said it came from the Culture novels rather than Ringworld. A lot of the ship names were also inspired by them as well, Halo had stuff like "Truth and Reconciliation" and "Pillar of Autumn" with the culture novels having "Wisdom Like Silence".

What exactly is Rad based on?
You mean like, which animal, or the character itself? Animal is Red Panda, and the character is just based on the various "cool" animal mascots with "attidute" that were popular back in the '90s. Sonic, Bubsy, Gex, Crash Bandicoot, Diddy Kong, Spyro, etc

I meant the latter. Thanks, I thought he was a real character until I realized that Erin Dies Alone was going the adaption route. Makes you wonder why they didn't just create a new character when Erin was already involved with real video game characters.

It's been a while since I checked, but it's my understanding that the main problem with freezing people is that water expands when frozen, which causes a lot of problems when it comes time to defrost the person.
