Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 is Coming This Year

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 is the first new Pro Skater game since 2002's THPS4.

Some good news for skateboarding fans today. After a whole lot of GameInformer [http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/25y7bh/im_tony_hawk_ama/chlunjs] broke the news with a first look at the new game.

Developed by Robomodo, the studio responsible for Tony Hawk Ride, Shred, and Pro Skater HD, Pro Skater 5 is a return to the original Pro Skater franchise's feel and style, although with a few added new features. These include power-ups that you can collect throughout the levels, and at least one mission-specific ability that allows you to shoot some kind of projectile.

As well as the titular Tony Hawk, the game will feature Nyjah Huston, Aaron Homoki, Ishod Wair, Riley Hawk, Lizzie Armanto, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Leticia Bufoni, and Andrew Reynolds. The game will feature a full co-op campaign, that can be played both off and online with your progress "seamlessly" being saved between the two modes.

Just like the old games in the series, players will be able to make and share their own custom skate parks.

The game is slated to come out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later in the year, with PS3 and Xbox 360 versions following shortly thereafter.

I loved the arcadey-ness feel of Tony Hawk Proskater 2. They lost me when they decided to go for more realistic approach.

Oh well, I'm off to listen to a certain song.

Well I don't see myself playing this, but i'm sure there are many who do. For some reason, it is one area of 90s nostalgia that doesn't want to return. Maybe it was really just a phase? Hah.

Please, for the love of god give me Skate 4! The instant I got the controls down for the first Skate Tony was dead to me. I'll never go back to pressing triangle to grind, circle for flip, and square for grabs. Never again!

Even to this day, I still pull one of them out from the shelf just to play around with for an hour or so. I'm glad to see some freshness to the franchise (and with current-gen hardward to boot!).

Would be nice if they included a few classic skaters from the older games other than Tony Hawk, but the real question is, is this going to end up like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD.

This made me realize that I haven't played one of these games in almost 10 years, which is kind of sad. I really enjoyed the open world, just go out there and have fun style.

I haven't bought a Tony Hawk game since Pro Skater 3. If they can reignite the magic of the originals, maybe I'll check it out.

Also, bring back Officer Dick (and Spidey or a new secret superhero character, if possible).

you misunderstand, the author is just saying that it's the first of the recent games to carry the Pro Skater moniker. He's not saying there haven't been tony hawk games, just not of the Pro Skater series, there was Underground 1 and 2, American Wasteland, Project 8, and at least one other that i can't remember.
