And I'm back to up to date... just as you start giving answers.

So that's what the Doc's brain surgery is about. Creating virtual universes using, well, brains. (Nice Matrix White Rabbit, by the way )

In which case... I'm assuming it's gone wrong at some point, putting the participant(s?) in danger. And Professor Hamish is working to fix it.

And now the question on my mind: Could Jenn be the only participant? Is our Zelda T-shirt wearing friend just another NPC, with a bit more 'processing power' than most?

Which all raises a further question - how much value should we place on these NPC lives? Are they aware? Or just simulating awareness? (How does one tell?)

EDIT: And, no, I haven't read Heinlein's "Number of the Beast." I've read Revelations though, so I know roughly what that reference is... And it's making part of my brain go "NopeNopeNopeNopeNope"...

The question of awareness is in fact extremely crucial, and connected to the little flying droid from the first episode.

As for "The Number of the Beast" - I've read it a while ago, but it's a definite inspiration for what's going on here.
