He's basically just an asshole version of Master Chief (obviously). That's what the joke was when the first landed when he was telling everyone about the fact that chances are they're going to die while he'll be the hero. That's how every Halo game is: standard marines are literally just fodder for MC...truth of the matter is MC is not a team player, he's a solo machine...and that's what makes him a "badass hero".
