Me and Earl and the Dying Girl - Coming-of-Age Without Cliche and Cheese

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl - with its offbeat title and relatively unknown actors - is a fantastic movie about teenagers, growing up, and dealing with cancer.

I knew I wanted to see this movie right when I saw the first TV trailer... Something about characters reacting to stuff you would find cliche if not addressed upright always makes me smile for some reason... Anyway, I kinda figured the "and Earl" portions of the movie wouldn't have as much screen time as the "and the Dying Girl" portions of the movie the more I saw the other TV trailers, so I'm not sure if it would bother me if I end up seeing this movie in theaters...

Other than that, I am wondering how much screen time is geared towards the teens making a movie together since that's also mentioned in the trailers I've seen...

That trailer and this review hooked me. Possibly more now than it would have three weeks ago before I was diagnosed with diabetes. Which will either kill me or be a massive contributing factor to what does. Even if I manage it really well. It's turned my life upside down and inside out. Food instantly went from being a joy to being my mortal enemy. For a time I was so terrified there were days I just wouldn't eat anything and when I did it was just squash and lettuces. I lost 15 pounds in two weeks.

Not really a whole lot of time is actually dedicated to the making of movies. They show us some of them and they talk about making it more than Me and Earl and the Dying Girl shows them making the movies.

Sounds like a must see to me. Thanks for recommending it. I do have to write, I liked The Fault in our Stars. But if I'm going to see another dying youngster so soon, this had better be much different.

It's definitely different - there is no central romance, after all.
