The Gallows - Guillotines Were Always More Fun, Anyway

The Gallows is just another awful found footage horror movie. "Boo!" Gee, I bet that was scary to read.

Something tells me that this review won't get the same amount of comments yelling at you for having the wrong opinion.

Just a hunch I guess...

Seems we're getting a lot of crappy horror movies lately. I still wanna see "As Above, So Below" despite it's lack-luster reviews...but yeah, based on the trailers I saw this one looked like crap from the start.

I actually liked As Above, So Below. Its cinematography can be nauseating at times, but I found it pretty fun.

I really like the premise of it, stumbling around in the absolute darkness of the catacombs and finding your way into Hell, each person getting their own personalized scenario based on their past. I've been in the catacombs beneath Rome, and that was one of the warnings that the tour guide gave us: "Don't wander off, or you could easily get lost in the unrelenting darkness of this place."

I think the reason why the actors are playing character that have the same name as them is probably the same reason why Project X did the exact same thing: to "fool" the viewer into thinking this actually did happen in real life...

Other than that, the promos really wanted to hammer in the fact that it's the most scariest movie you'll see this year and shit... even going as far as showing "audience reactions" to convince you that it's scary, despite it usage of jump scares...

I actually think the commercials that acted like the movie was on par with horror classics. "Jason has his machete, Freddie has his claws, Charlie...

...has his noose."

Umm, maybe it's just me, but that seems like a highly specialized weapon.

Aw man, those commercials were really forgetful for me since their comparisons don't really match-up with one another the moment I heard the tagline... They would have been better off comparing it with other found footage movies like this:

The Blair Witch Project had a deadly forest...
[REC] had a deadly quarantine...
Paranormal Activity had a deadly house...
Project X had a deadly party...
The Gallows has a deadly play...

Boom! Now, you're more knowledgeable in terms of remembering their tagline in my opinion...
