Latest Educational Vault-Tec Video for Fallout 4 Covers Endurance

Learn what Endurance can do for you in the Wasteland.

The third in Bethesda's series of comical educational videos for Fallout 4 has released, providing insight into the role of the Endurance attribute which puts the "E" in "S.P.E.C.I.A.L."

Endurance in Fallout is perhaps most significant in terms of the player's ability to withstand physical damage. A higher endurance rating will improve resistance to radiation and make limbs more resilient and less likely to become crippled in combat. Additionally, the trait affects how long a character can run at a sprint and the amount of time they can spend underwater.

Focusing on Endurance can also provide some other options for surviving in the wasteland. Players can gain greater benefits from eating food and gain access to alternate forms of nourishment, including cannibalism.

Fallout 4 releases on November 10 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

So does this mean that the hardcore system is coming back? Or are food and water simply relegated to health recovery?

Looks a bit like the stats may be lighter versions compared to F3/Vegas, but we'll see soon. I read somewhere that they wanted to make the game more streamlined and less based on stats or something, but I hope they still play a decent role in how your character plays/survives. Not sure if there are implants in F4 (and if Endurance factors in with them), but you have to figure there will be perks and it will at least make a difference once you factor them in. Can't wait to play, it's only a bit more then a month away now!!

I loved the hardcore system, except that it should have a "hardcore plus" setting. It was far too easy to find food and drink scattered all over the place. Honestly I never felt in risk of not finding enough food in Fallout: NV.

Best video yet in my opinion.

I wouldn't mind a hardcore system, as long as it's not "Drinking makes you thirstier" levels of stupid, as was the case of beers and soft drinks in NV (Yes, I know that beer is a net-loss diuretic, but not in the shortest of terms. And soft drinks like Nukacola, while also diuretic, hydrate far more than they drain)

I love hardcore systems, but I tend to agree - I haven't really felt challenged in any of the fallout games without using excessive mods to severely restrict item quantities.

NV is a great example of just bad design in that regard - They had this entire meta-game with cooking/crafting food and the survival food and it was frankly useless. I actually really dislike it when game designers put features into their games that there is no real purpose to use, even situationaly. Oh well.

While these are charming, their narrative feels out of place.
It's intended to look like it's been made before the apocalypse, but always contains imagery specific to fallout games. It's derivative of other fallout games.
That's the same issue the Star Wars prequels had. It didn't add to the existing universe by adding things that would be in that universe, or would make sense. Instead, it looks at the source material and adds more of what it thinks the source materials are about. It's a minor difference in perspective, but noticable.
