My best guess is to stick with the Fight Club theory: that everything Rad does is actually stuff that Erin is doing. If both Erin and Rad are asleep, then that would mean her mind is fully asleep. As such, perhaps the box is the little corner of Erin's mind that the Rad personality occupies.NinjaDeathSlap said:Clearly the box at the end is some kind of significant reference and I do not get it. What's odd is that he isn't wearing his signature cap, inside the box. This may be foreshadowing for the next "arc" or a delve into Rad's past.RJ 17 said:My best guess is to stick with the Fight Club theory: that everything Rad does is actually stuff that Erin is doing. Like I said, that's just a guess though.
Erin's obviously been like this for quite some time. She's afraid of the outside world and has very little contact with her family. Those pills are obviously for her psychosis. The game characters are just the newest manifestation of her psychosis and getting rid of the medicine seems like a pretty obvious thing to do. When last did a mentally ill person agree that they need the meds, without anyone else's involvement?warmachine said:I guess the authors think anti-depressants are like a crutch that stops you from learning to walk again properly.

Like in Season One of Heroes! There was a guy who (before Skyler killed him) had the ability to foretell the future through his paintings.Synigma said:Alright, I'm starting to buy into Erin having powers that bring characters out of their games. The medication inhibits her powers and Rad doesn't want to go back to his game...
I'm with you. The Fight Club theory is still holding water at this point.RJ 17 said:My best guess is to stick with the Fight Club theory: that everything Rad does is actually stuff that Erin is doing. Just need a penguin to walk up to Rad in the next comic and tell him to "slide".IceForce said:I'm with you. Actually no I don't think they do, considering some of the earlier comic strips showcasing Erin's batshit craziness. And if it was implying she didn't need them, Rocket wouldn't look so guilty about what he did, and trying to hide it.warmachine said:I guess the authors think anti-depressants are like a crutch that stops you from learning to walk again properly.
As Rad is from a long forgotten late 80's/early 90's platformer game, the !-box is likely a Mario-esque powerup box. I am thinking his manifestation of his gameworld is a frozen wasteland now that no one remembers/plays anymore and he doesn't want to go back to it. Hence him keeping Erin off her psych-meds and him free to run around and hang out with someone. But that is just a spitball guess, will need to see if they show whats going on in the snowy setting.Happyninja42 said:Though yeah, what is the box thing? The Fight Club theory doesn't explain a box with an exclamation mark on the side. All I could think was MGS or something. Any game references to having a metal box with a "!" on it that glowed brightly?
