The Venture Bros. Returning At the End of January

The hotly-anticipated sixth season will premiere Sunday, January 31st at midnight ET.

Making a show as truly original and funny as The Venture Bros. doesn't happen overnight, which is why it has rightfully been held in the same light as Arrested Development and The Simpsons, even earning a spot on IGN's "Best 100 Animated Series" list (at #56). Still, any show that regularly spends upwards of two years in between seasons can leave even the most casual of fans feeling a little anxious.

With season 5 of The Venture Bros. having wrapped up in July of 2013, we've been expecting an announcement from Adult Swim regarding their longest running program any day now, and yesterday morning, that's just what we got!

Yes, The Venture Bros. will in fact be returning at the end of the month for an eight episode sixth season, per a press release from Adult Swim.

Location, Location, Location! Perfectly situated in the heart of New York City, season 6 of The Venture Bros. is a billionaire's dream come true, offering the discerning buyer top-of-the-line drama and panoramic danger in every direction. Super-scientists, bring your loofah! Relax and unwind from a long day in the lab in your luxurious, spa-like, master bath, where floor-to-ceiling windows offer spectacular views of approaching enemies from every direction. This eight episode, 3 BR, 2 BA stunner comes with its own dedicated robot, plus servants' quarters for live-in bodyguard.

Luckily for us, we don't have to be actual billionaires to get in on the prime real estate that is The Venture Bros. season six.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I hope they don't mess things up like they did in season 5. I suppose "mess up" isn't quite the right wording, but they had like 4 seasons of character development for Dr Venture then in 5 he was back to being just as bad as he was at the start.

I understand GRRM fans and their ire towards waiting for more GoT, if I didn't respect the hell out of Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick, I'd probably be pissed it took so long. But I love the work on so many levels I have the patience... but... 8 episodes? At least it isn't just a one-off. Gargantua-2 *mumble mumble grumble*.

I can't frigging wait! No seriously, I'm not getting my usual animated fix like I was before Christmas (One Punch Man ended, Naruto is still on filler for whatever reason)!

Only Steven Universe is keeping my boredom at bay for this week only due to their Steven Bomb (new episodes per day but for this week only). My other watched shows like Wander Over Yonder, TNMT and the last Gravity Falls will be back in a few weeks time but I got nothing to watched in the meantime!

I saw the trailer for Season 6 back in September during their Dragon*Con panel. It was super hype. The end of the month can't come soon enough.

That season length makes me so sad, though it seems to be par for the course these days... What happened to being able to expect a full 13/26 episodes? I mean, the only thing I can think of is that shows no longer need to give two craps about syndication, so studios are free to make as much or as little as they want/can.
I welcome what we get, and lament what could have been.

'Bout damn time.

Being a fan of an Adult Swim show is an ordeal.I can't believe I have to wait 'til 2017 for the next season of Rick & Morty.

Woohoo! Now all I have to do is wait for the DVD, or find a TV with a cable box in another room since Venture Bros. is just about the only modern TV I enjoy.

I liked Rusty growing some morals (as well as the character growth many others got over the past couple seasons) as the show went on, but didn't Rusty do something horrible at the boys' prom night (involving escorts and mutated fly DNA)in the SE. 4 finale? He did make some progress, but what happened in Se. 5 didn't seem to be a major step backwards for him. Season 5 felt sort of like a return to the status quo after previous episodes suggested major changes would happen.

Yep, season 5 was disappointingly small (and some episodes were kinda lackluster). If it takes two years to produce a season, that's fine with me (as long as I remember to keep tabs on it), but it better either be full of really great episodes or have more than 8 to offset the dull episode to great episode ratio.

The worst part about the short length seasons is the overall story arc will now move even slower, even more so if they have a few episodes that don't progress the myth arc very much, or at all.

Dammit, I love that there's more Venture Bros. on the way, but 8 episodes are not enough! I remember Season 4 being split into two 8-episode blocks, but just 8 episodes a season? I thought they finally cancelled ATHF to give more money to VB and Rick & Morty!

Yea, it's turning out to be the case with a lot of shows. Used to be 26, then 18, then 16, 14-12, 10 just a couple years ago, now 8 in some cases like this.

If the creators are getting tired of the material, I'd rather they make a few episodes into a finale and be done with it.

I don't think it's so much a case of "the creators are getting tired of it" as it is "that's all the network wants to pay for."
