I was expecting a cannibalism joke.

The game looks interesting but very frustrating on the RNG front.

The art in this strip turned out really, really nicely.

Especially the Facial expression on her. Suits and background turned out nicely too.

<3 this game

It is exactly what a "modern" game should be. Short but high intensity, simple mechanics but deep gameplay, and almost every player interaction is a meaningful decision.

I really, really wanna get this game. Maybe I'll have a bit of spare cash with my paycheck this week. Everything I've heard about this game makes it seem like it'd be fun as all get-out.

I wonder what would had happened if he had rolled a critical miss failure.

So what happened if he rolled a 4? Hit himself in the balls with a hammer? Would that be an improvement?

Eh, it's not too bad. There are several mechanics to help you mitigate the assfuckery that is the RNG. But it's tough. You have a very limited number of actions you can take in any turn, and the game has a tendency to stack more problems than you can deal with in a round. Which is fitting, as the game is about trying to survive an ever increasing hostile situation. Sometimes you can have a golden run, like my second playthrough. I was able to get all 4 crew members to the end, without having to eat any human flesh. I was frankly surprised. But that was the only time I've pulled that off. Most playthroughs end in death for everyone, and occasionally I can get a crew member or 2 to the surface. It's fun, but tough. xD

Yeah it's pretty damn fun. I'm not sure how the endings are determined, I think it's based on your final score. So I don't know if I've seen all the endings available at this point, but I keep trying to get a higher score, in the hopes of getting a "happy" ending. Though I suspect it doesn't exist in this game. xD

Well...yes, seeing as damaging your balls wouldn't be fatal, and a drilled sternum would likely be. xD

Its basically Yahtzee (the game, not the man) with a framing device, and a few extra mechanics beyond straight points scoring.

Whether thats good or bad depends on your view I guess. Its not like Yahtzee is an unpopular game.

You know, reminds me of Darkest Dungeon. You have some elite if not the best professionals in dungeon exploring / fighting and what do you know? By an unlucky chance due to the game's unfair justified mechanics on the luck factor, your archer will miss hitting the biggest grunt in the room because ... reasons?

Or perhaps your Jester gets lucky 5x in a row and instant slays the boss monster while your juggernaut keeps getting wrecked by the smallest spider in the game's database. Ugh.
The people in Darkest Dungeon are supposed to be elite? The voice overs from your ancestor always gave me the distinct impression that these weren't so much good adventurers as they were people so desperate or disillusioned that they'd sign up for anything.

I'm pretty sure that they are gullible wannabe adventurers sucked in by misleading advertisement with loots and free health-care.

If they were experienced they would've legged it.
