This part in particular stands out for me. "select group of EA fans who come in predisposed to be excited about what they see."They can still conduct closed-door meetings with the retail purchasers who E3 is targeted at, and most importantly, they can open their doors to a select group of EA fans who come in predisposed to be excited about what they see.
One of the points of trade stand at E3 is the fact that E3 gets global media coverage. The costs outweigh the costs paying for the equivalent of the free media coverage. EA can run their own event nearby and still get the advantage of the free media because the press being in town anyway. If E3 closes then EA won't get the free media and the cost/benefit of EA running its own event becomes negative.RJ 17 said:Over the past few years the number of companies saying "screw this, we're going to do our own thing" has gradually been increasing. If this trend holds, then by default E3 will fade into obscurity as it won't have any developers going to it.
Yeah, and that's what's going to happen if more and more companies decide to go do their own thing. It'll reach a tipping point where there's more "leeches" than companies actually attending.albino boo said:One of the points of trade stand at E3 is the fact that E3 gets global media coverage.
