I just don't understand advertising I guess...

What I imagine is happening at marketing agencies...

Johnny Advertising: "Hey boss! I have a brilliant idea!"
Boss: "What is it Johnny Advertising, our most brilliant marketing employee?"
JA: "Now I know Superbowl commercials literally cost us millions of dollars to run during the game but...what if we released all those commercials early for free on the internet?"
Boss: "Johnny, you've done it again! Here's a raise and some more cocaine!"
JA: "Yah! Cocaine!"

A friend of one of my friends starred in that Mountain Dew ad. Our conclusion is that they're now set for life.

Also, does the NFL really need ads for itself during the Superbowl?

From what little i know about marketing and advertising, it's more about being a) seen by as much people as possible and b) being somewhat memorable.

For example think about the silliest commercial you ever seen. Now i don't know about you, but a lot of people will see the same ad, talk about it to people they know and laugh about it. However now the product is in your and their long term memory and every once in a while you'll remember the product, which can influence your buying potential.

You missed the Cocacola ad with Hulk chasing Antman into an alley.

That one was great~

My personal favourite was the Snickers commercial with Willem Dafoe; those crack me up (and why is everyone wanting Willem in a dress?)

I thought the Audi one was perfect. It gave me goosebumps. Space race nostalgia, Bowie song, beautiful and futuristic R8... Sadly I will probably never afford one. Oh well

I didn't watch any Super Bowl ads... that weren't already on the internet... except for the ones revolving around taking a plane to Gotham/Metropolis... I just lost it with laughter afterwards...

Other than that, I was actually watching Jeremy Jahns's latest videos during the Super Bowl... or Beowolf when I was still awake...

The Doritos commercials were solid this year.

The Amazon one with Alec Baldwin, Dan Marino, and Miss Elliot was funny as hell.

The rest were a disappointment to me. I will say though, I do wonder if the marketing department's water cooler was spiked with LSD because there were a lot that were all kinds of 'what the fuck?' going on. Dogmoneybaby being one.

They all sucked. They're annoying ads made by marketing douchebags trying to take your money. Why pay attention at all?

No we didn't. It was garbage; and seriously, "Ant Man"? Give me a fucking break.
Except the literal definition of the phrase "You missed [insert ad here]" means they did indeed miss one. I didn't find the ad that great either (I'm sorry- after Avengers 1 being remade twice with Avengers 2 and Ant-Man, I'm frankly done with Marvel movies now) but that doesn't mean letting the author off by missing one.

I'd say thank god it's almost baseball season, but the A's are gonna suck again this year so I don't even have that....
Oh well... Go Raiders in 2016! (Plz don't fuck this draft up, Reggie McKenzie. Kthx)
13 years ago I was a Raiders fan, still am but the reality has set in. I'll never bet on them again, thankfully it was only shots and not money but holy crap did I screw up and kill a LOT of braincells in the process.

The only thing more embarrassing than people admitting they watch commercials for entertainment, was the product the NFL put on the field tonight. It was like 2013 all over again, but in reverse.

Wow, somebody must be sour that the panthers lost. If you don't like the sport, don't watch the sport. If you don't like the ads, don't watch the ads. And if you don't like the Escapist recap of the ads, well, you get the idea. And yes, frankly the commercials were more entertaining than the game itself -except for the sheep one with that abhorrent song by Queen - that one should be burned in a thermite pit, ashes scattered to the farthest reaches of space....no scratch that, wouldn't want aliens reconstituting the remnants - thrown into the sun - that's better.

See, I'm not from the USA and as an outsider, I find it pretty bizzare. Are people really looking forward to commercial ads, getting hyped about them, talking about it like *that's* an event in and of itself? It seemes like you're being ass raped and are loving it, sorry guys.

I thought the entire point of the Super Bowl ads was that they were specially made for this event! I saw nearly half of these weeks ago in regular circulation.

And it certainly doesn't help that they all sucked. Even the puppies trying to get Doritos sucked, and it had fucking puppies! PUPPIES!
It's like having a bikini clad Victoria Secret model deepthroating a corn-dog in slow motion. And still thinking it sucked.

OR, or... hear me out here - we like the entertainment value of the ad.

We're not mindless sheep who instantly go out and buy the product that was advertised.

T-Mobile and Sprint have both remade Verizon's commercial now... They must be really scared of Verizon for some reason.

That Victoria Secret Football ad, that's cute, is that how women think about tackle football? All ballerina hopping and spins and no rough touches...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's weirded out by the fact that various websites are running articles advertising a bunch of ads. I know some of them are rather quirky but the idea of a bunch of people coming together to watch ads feels rather creepy.
