The Finding Dory Trailer is a Stream of Emotions


Finding Dory packs the same impressive visuals as its predecessor, but can its story match up?

Thirteen years after Pixar hit it big with Finding Nemo, the studio will be attempting to catch lightning in a bottle once again with Finding Dory.

Ellen Degeneres returns to the scene-stealing role of Dory, the dim-witted sidekick of Nemo from the first film. This time around, she'll be accompanied by Nemo and Marlin as she travels across seas far and wide in search of her family.

In addition to marking the return of Ellen Degeneres, Finding Dory will also star It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Kaitlin Olsen alongside Albert Brooks, Ed O'Neill, Ty Burrell, Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton. Speaking to the underlying message that Dory will hope to achieve, Burrell recently stated that "There's always a deeper message with Pixar."

"And so much of it in Finding Dory is that these characters are trying to find faith in themselves...They're trying to overcome their insecurities in order to help somebody in need."

Finding Dory hits theaters on June 17th, so check out the official synopsis below.

Yeah...I'm not feeling it. It doesn't look bad per se, but it feels more like "Finding Nemo: Greatest Hits," in that we have:

-School trip with the stingray (again).

-Ride along the EAC with Crunch (again).

-Exagerated whale sounds (again).

-One of the protagonists trapped in a fish tank (again).

-By proxy, bratty children who touch/shake aquatic life and are presented in an adversarial light (again).

-Protagonist finding a member of their family and going through all the above as part of the process (again).

Sequels usually have levels of familiarity to them, but, well, yeah.

Well, it's Pixar so most people are going to automatically like it anyway. To be fair, Nemo was quite a fun watch.

You could rename this "Pixar wants lots of money for here's Finding Nemo 2" and I'd still probably watch it. It may not be WALL-E 2 but this works just fine.

At the very least this a series that hasn't been milked to death yet. Pixar seems to handle that type of thing very well. It's not old enough to be cashing in on nostalgia and it's not been 2 years since the last movie came off the factory press; it's perfectly old enough to get a sequel.

I can't help but feel like Dory might turn into what Jack Sparrow did; she was fun as a side character in Finding Nemo but I'm not sure how well she'll hold up a movie as the main character.

That being said, the first one was my mom's favourite so I'm sure I'll see this with her when it comes out. MY favourite Pixar movie ain't getting a sequel but at least it's not Cars 3. -rolls eyes-

Finding Dory will will be hyped like crazy with ads and merch.

Finding Dory will (most likely) be colorful and inoffensive.

Finding Dory will make a shit of money at the box office.

...the change from the open ocean to the confines of an aquarium seems like an interesting change of pace. I wonder if they're going to highlight how shitty aquariums are for some animals (of course they are, who am I kidding)

Didn't they already do exactly that in Finding Nemo? Don't fix what ain't broke, I suppose :\
