Confirmed: Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will star in the upcoming The Killing Joke film.

As reported by CBR news [http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/exclusive-kevin-conroy-mark-hamill-star-batman-killing-joke], it has been revealed that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles as Batman and The Joker in the upcoming animated film adaptation of the 1988 graphic novel The Killing Joke.

"The chance to work once again with Kevin Conroy, my favorite Batman, in what some consider the definitive origin of this iconic villain is a dream come true for me," Hamill said in a statement to CBR. "I am beyond thrilled to return as The Joker in The Killing Joke!"

"I've had the great privilege of voicing Batman for more than two decades, and some of my favorite moments in the recording booth have been alongside Mark Hamill," Conroy added. "Mark always enables me to be a better actor. I'm thrilled that we're both back to bring these characters to life in one of the most heralded Batman/Joker stories of all time."

Producer Bruce Timm recently revealed [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/165835-The-Killing-Joke-Animated-Film-Will-Expand-on-the-Original-Story] that The Killing Joke is staying "very faithful" to the source material, saying: "Whenever we do an adaptation of a really famous iconic comic... we try to stay very faithful to the comic, to the source material, as much as possible. Killing Joke is a really tricky property because it's really bleak, but we made a decision early on that if we're gonna do it, then we kinda have to just jump in and just do it."

A bit of story has been added in order to make an entire feature film of the graphic novel, including a 15-minute prologue that sets up the story.

The film will premiere at San Diego Comic-Con, which runs from July 21-24.

Hey!

While it was heavily speculated about, and certainly vocally hoped for, it was not officially confirmed before last night. In January (link in the article), Bruce Timm (producer) said in a video interview that he was on a tight leash and not allowed to comment at all about the cast.

Hamill also tweeted this last night (https://twitter.com/HamillHimself/status/709501642429825024): "THE KILLING aspect? Dying to share it but forced to keep my yap shut-Did ya miss me, kiddies?" with a link the the article, linked above, where the official announcement was made.

If you can find earlier official confirmation, I would be more than happy to amend this post.

Anyway I am very excited for this movie.

I may have my gripes with Batman as of late (the over-emphasis of him in DC media; especially video games, and the "Batman-Only" fans as in the fans that say Batman can do anything if he planned ahead or Batman is more relatable)

But I still like Batman in general, I just try to be a more general DC fan and try to give the other characters their due (mostly through Justice League comic books)

When I first read Batman the Killing Joke the art style, and the tone heavily remdinded me of Batman the Animated Series. More so than The Dark Knight Returns imo.
