Remedy Apologizes for Quantum Break Issues, Promises Fixes

Remedy and Microsoft are "working diligently" to address the issues some players are reporting with Quantum Break.

In a forum post today [http://community.remedygames.com/forum/games/quantum-break/261576-quantum-break-status-update], Remedy addressed the issues with Quantum Break, which have been felt on PC since the game's April 4 release. The post is broken down by complaint and includes Remedy's plan of action on each issue individually.

"We are aware that some players are facing issues with the Windows 10 version of Quantum Break and some extent on Xbox One. We want to let you know that we are working diligently with Microsoft Studios on addressing all the feedback; below are the things we know about today that are being worked on," the post opens.

For frame-rate stuttering, for example, Remedy acknowledges a "major rounding error introduced into our refresh rate predictions on shipping." The developer promises that a solution is already being worked on, with the issue expected to be resolved in an upcoming update. One of the most popular complaints - the lack of an option to quit from the main menu - is being added in an upcoming update. Until then, Remedy recommends using alt-F4, or moving your mouse to the upper right corner of the window, to close out. For issues with downloading the game from the Windows Store, Remedy stated that there are "some known bugs," and that Microsoft is "standing by to help anyone who has issues downloading," adding that a Windows 10 Anniversary Update coming this summer will "massively improve the overall experience for these kinds of big games."

There were also some complaints that applied to both PC and Xbox One versions of the game that were addressed, including light flare and blinking lights (a fix is on the way), missing dialogue ("this is probably because you are listening in stereo, but the Xbox One is set to play back surround 5.1 or 7.1."), and Cloud save issues.

You can check out the full list of acknowledged issues, and the ways they were addressed, in the forum post here [http://community.remedygames.com/forum/games/quantum-break/261576-quantum-break-status-update].

Speaking of Quantum Break, are we never going to get a review?

Anyone play this game? The reviews are very positive, but whenever I watch gameplays, it looks so boring.

Trust me it's way more fun than it looks.

I didn't even know the game came out yet. No one is talking about it. Is it so just mediocrely ok that no one is running to rave about it but no one is complaining either?

I think it's more of because its a sort-of, kinda Xbone exclusive, and as mentioned, the PC port is balls.

The only issue I care about is that it's .uwp and not .exe. A Fix for that and availability on something else than GFWL2.0 would be just lovely.

Didn't they already delay this game for like two years? I thought it was supposed to be a launch title but missed launch by a mile. Am I confusing that with something else?

Wasn't wrong, according to Wikipedia this is the game I was thinking of. There is no excuse for it not to be in working order. Not when the trailer came out in 2013 and the game was supposed to be out in 2014. I mean, especially not when there's only two platforms.

This reminds me of when microsoft was touting around their pc release of halo 2 to try to stimulate sales of windows vista and the new directx. It's like they have a weird inability to learn from any of their mistakes from past OS releases. And now remedy is caught in the middle of it.

Anyway, I'm getting kind of sick of game companies screwing up releases and apologizing about it later with only vague promises of fixing things (to be fair, remedy does seem to be working hard, but they're more exception than the rule). It's too much like politics: do whatever you want and get away with it if you just apologize. I guess it's a symptom of a system based on pre-order sales and contract payouts tied to sales and metacritic scores.

How sad for remedy and quantum break to get caught up in all of this: their game, no matter how good or bad, won't get played as much as it deserves and it's going to get dragged down by the stigma of the platforms it's on. (I'd wager a number of their problems come from delays imposed on them by microsoft to release the game on windows 10 and the xbone, too.) From way back when that trailer debuted I do remember thinking it could be an interesting game, but now I'll never know. :p
