A Live Action Legend of Zelda Crime Drama is Apparently Coming Tomorrow

Seriously, listen.

I've made peace with the fact that I may never live to see a live action Legend of Zelda movie or TV series - I've even recovered from that cruel April Fool's hoax [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBCzkz3gHb8]. But while we may not ever see Link navigating the sprawling fields of Hyrule, thanks to Dayside TV we're going to be able to see him navigate the sprawling city streets (perhaps also of Hyrule?)

The Dayside TV team (as spotted by Eurogamer [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-05-04-a-legend-of-zelda-hong-kong-crime-drama-launches-tomorrow]) is bringing us the film, which follows Link, Zelda, and Ganon with the popular franchise reimagined as a crime drama. A teaser trailer surfaced last week, promising a release of - yay! - tomorrow. Ganon has a criminal empire, Zelda is a key witness who is in the wind, a man says "It's dangerous to go alone," and Link is an overzealous detective working the case. Oh, and Navi says "Link! Listen!"

Until tomorrow, we have only the attached teaser trailer, and a dream in our hearts.

I look forward to the reveal that Kirby is behind it all, if history repeats.
Congrats Escapist, there's a Chinese bootleg of one of your series!

....This is a fan thing, right? Cause it seems...dumb. Really seems like its just taking an unrelated thing and replacing the names with LoZ names to trick fans to watch it, maybe throw in some puns and references to keep em strung along.

This is either the greatest thing that has ever happened to the franchise....

.....or the worst thing that has ever happened to the franchise.

I can't decide which. o.o

The whole thing is cleared up when you notice this is coming from China, which has a rather laissez faire attitude towards copyrighted works. Cheap movie, stereotypical premise, toss in some unsolicited brand recognition to actually get people to watch it, profit. Who knows, it could be fun, in a popcorn munching B-movie way.

This...is real? First detective pikachu, now detective link? If he rides Epona with a bow and master sword for street patrol, then maybe i'll watch. I hope it's something dark and gritty, that'll annoy some unseen bastards somewhere. Perhaps he could even solve the mystery of the thick Beijing smog that has smothered the motherland. Maybe...

I'm going to have to be the Grinch here, but what is the point? It's not really LoZ, it's just a crime drama with the names changed and a few references to the games.

"Live-Action Legend Of Zelda Crime Drama"

That sentence just... tickles me, in a way.

Not so much the live-action part, I'm not a LOZ fan but I wouldn't doubt there's some good fan-films out there, but this is a combination of things that just, wowee wow.
