New Deus Ex "Projects" to be Announced Before E3

New projects and exclusive gameplay to be coming next week.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided launches on August 23 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/161469-Deus-Ex-Mankind-Divided-Delayed], and E3 doesn't kick off for another two weeks, but Square Enix has announced a Deus Ex Universe Pre-E3 Showcase for June 8 at 11:30am Eastern, promising to show off exclusive gameplay demo for Mankind Divided, along with the announcement of "new projects" for Deus Ex.

New projects, eh? I wonder what they could be?

Maybe a multiplayer-focused spin-off? Oh wait, no, they did that already. Wasn't a huge success.

Ah, maybe a side story game on mobile? Bollocks, already did that too. Didn't blow us all away either.

OK, I'm calling it: a dancing rhythm game.

Could be good, as long as they're not going to announce it's becoming episodic. Seriously Square-Enix don't mess me about when it comes to Deus Ex.

I think people should watch the jimquisition episode about a source he has who has spoken about squeenix's, for lack of a better word; bullshit. About how just cause 3 was supposed to be an MMO or online only multiplayer (with F2P elements? I can't find the episode to verify), about how the upcoming deus ex game being split into 3, about the final fantasy episodic plans, hitman episodic plans and something else i cannot currently remember. If this "projects" happen to be slices of deus ex sold to us seperately in the guis of something else, well, that would be pretty shitty but expected from squeenix. I really hoped Deus Ex could avoid this nasty business practice. It is a last hope that squeenix can actually not taint every IP with insulting anti-consumer practices. Time will tell, as always. I am very distrusting of this publisher, but will not make assumptions until we know more.

Same here.

If they go "oh hey, we're making the next game a trilogy, and we'll be cutting it off at key cliffhangers to force you to get the next one!", I'm going to be rather quite pissed.

Wait a second, when?

I'm expecting some horrible 'episodic content' or DLC based announcement, because it's Squenix and whilst they're not Konami, sometimes they do try so very hard.

There is a game called Project Snowblind which was originally developed as a multiplayer spin-off called Deus Ex: Clan Wars. When Deux Ex: Invisible War underperformed, they dropped the name and reworked the game as a standalone title set in its own universe, but it kept a lot of the Deux Ex-y gameplay.

For those wanting more clarification, check out the Jimquisition episode "why square-unix is carving it's games to bits".
In it Jim talks about how apparently SE and other game companies had no faith in the PS4 and Xbone due to dwindling sales during the last few years of the PS3 and 360, feeling that mobile gaming was the way to go. According to sources of his that first warned him of this years ago, SE was looking for ways to split their games up to make more money while still developing the game hence Hitman and Final Fantasy 7 remake being episodic.
According to Jim Deus Ex has been in talks to be divided into a "Mass Effect style Trilogy", although he says this may have changed.

Now Snowblind I remember.

I never realised it was originally meant to be a Deus Ex game though. Quite glad it wasn't, it was perfectly good, but it most definitely wasn't Deus Ex.
