CD Projekt Red Confirms The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition

After an entry for USK was spotted, CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed a Game of the Year Edition for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

After an entry was spotted for the German rating board USK, CD Projekt Red confirmed that there will be a Game of the Year Edition for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in a statement to Eurogamer [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-07-06-the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-game-of-the-year-edition-spotted].

According to game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, "plans are in motion to release such an edition" which are likely to include all of the free DLC and potentially the game's two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. More details, including the release date, will be revealed "in the future," although a separate source indicated an August 26 release.

"With all the free DLC and updates the game received so far, including significant changes to the game's interface and mechanics, many gamers have asked us if we're working on some sort of a Game of the Year Edition," Tomaszkiewicz said. "I'm happy to confirm - yes, plans are in motion to release such an edition. We'll release more details, including the release date, in the future. In the meantime, I'd like to thank every fan of the game for their support - you're really amazing!"

Here's a fun thing to think about. Recently CDPR discussed The Witcher 3 graphics and how the game would have looked a lot better if PS4 and Xbox One were as powerful as the upcoming upgraded consoles. What if they decide to upgrade the graphics for GOTY because those consoles are coming? This is CDPR after all.

One can only hope. The Witcher 3 is a beautiful game, but it deserves to look even better. Even if they only upgrade the rest of the game to look as good as graphics in Toussaint it would be incredible.

You didn't have to. GOTY will probably be free or insanely cheap for existing owners. CDPR isn't known for milking their fans.

OT: Wait... I though they had no plans to do something like that in the first place... Or am I think about another well-like video game company?

Other than that, unless they also announce The Witcher Trilogy Collection for the PS4, I'd say this announcement takes the cake...

For me, they could make a game of the decade edition and I wouldn't bat an eye.
