Update - Daniel Craig Offered Insane Money to Return as James Bond

//cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/1347/1347390.jpg

Daniel Craig has made it clear that he doesn't want to play James Bond anymore. Will a ridiculous offer by Sony change his mind?

Update: It appears as though Craig has changed his mind, whether that be thanks to some time off or because of the amount of money he was offered. Speaking at this year's New York Comic Con, Craig said the following (as reported by Vulture [http://io9.gizmodo.com/daniel-craig-would-no-longer-rather-slit-his-wrists-tha-1787582249]):

As far as I'm concerned, I've got the best job in the world. I'll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it. If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly.

We may get more Craig-led Bond films after all.

Original Story: The Sony [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/james+bond] would want to procure the services of its leading man for a couple of additional installments.

Craig, meanwhile, has been vocal about wanting nothing more to do with the series. Prior to the release of Robert Downey, Jr. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/moviesandtv/reviews/cinemarter/14941-Spectre-Review] makes - at least in base salary - for playing Iron Man.

It remains to be seen whether or not Craig will accept the reported offer. He has said in the past that he could change his mind, and that his negativity was fueled at least in part from burnout right after filming had concluded.

Do you want to see Daniel Craig return for two more Bond films?

Daniel Craig makes for a pretty good Bond as long as the script is right. Both Skyfall and Casino Royale showed that. That said, if he doesn't want to return, it's time to find a new Bond who will be interested. Nothing sinks a Bond movie faster than an actor who is just there for the money.

Don't do it man. unless you go ironic and use the money to buy a private, volcanic island with a secrect army and start plotting to take over the world. Then do it my son.

Why am i not surprised that this is Sony? Well aside from the fact that they publish and distribute Bond films that is.

Their productions are completely dominated by the marketing team theese days, they dont want Daniel Craig because hes a good actor, they want him just for his name.

I'm cool with changing to a new Bond as it feels like it's time to move on from Daniel Craig anyway unless there is a specific story related reason it needs to be the same Bond and they are officially wrapping up his Bonds era, it's not like the franchise hasn't had to deal with different actors in the lead role before.

Can't say I blame him. I mean I heard from TVTropes that he had he turned down the role of Bond, he'd forever be branded a "fucking idiot" by his mates at the pub. So that definitely sounds like someone who would want to stop at this point.

I mean I already a bad start with James Bond with "Quantom Of Solace" which I really didn't like and prevented me from being interested in Skyfall and Spectre. Hell I've yet to check out Casino Royale either but at least I enjoyed GoldenEye so at least I have a level of respect for 007.

Agreed. I never found Craig particularly compelling in the roll, though, Skyfall, as absurd as much of it was, was pretty dang fun (better than the other 2, I haven't seen Specter yet).

Please NO! He is from the Roger Moore school of acting. Bond is supposed to have a cruel streak in him. I don't get that with Cavill. I hope we get someone who is relatively unknown and fits the role. Too bad Harrison Ford isn't 30. And British. And relatively unknown.

He had improved the laughable image of Bond to a slightly more palettable style. But if he is done with the cake-walk role, throwing ridiculous amounts of money in that direction in the hopes of more money returning is a rather tasteless move. And I guess apt for Sony's usual demeanour. They want to crawl back into that creative womb for as long as they can.
Eh, it would be disappointing to see him fold to this. It's not like he is strapped for cash and desperate for choices. But one could be wrong and maybe he has hidden debts from online counterstrike weapon skin gambling.

Quantum of Solace was shit because it happened to be made during the Writers Giuld strike. What writers the studio could get for the script were obviously not up to the job and it came down to Sony wanting a return on investment more than wanting another good film in thier portfolio.

And for the record, Skyfall and Casino Royale are definitely worth a watch. Dont worry about thier connecting story elements, in the time gaps between me seeing all of Dainiels Bond films i had completely forgotten about them, and they dont really pay off in Spectre anyway.

Never hire unknowns because you may run the risk of getting an unknown that can't act for shit.

Warcraft suffered for most of its Human cast being relatively unknown actors. And for a movie like Warcraft you NEED charcater actors.

I dunno. Sam Worthington, star of Avatar was pretty unknown before being the lead in a movie that went on to being one of the top grossing films of all time.

There is a ton of talent out there. Go to any community theater and you'll see it. They need proper scripts, direction and editing. The rest will fall into place.

I really want Idris Elba or Simon Pegg to be Bond, and they can't do that until Craig is removed from the picture.

All the moneyzzzz!!!

OT: He should do it and donate half of it to charity.
The scripts are the worst part of Bond since the 90s, so he's not gonna make too much of a difference, and I like his deadpan deliveries when the script calls for utter BS :D

Oh Sony don't you get it? You take an actor with zero interest in a role and you get a lousy performance! I really hope he turns them down simply because unless he digs into reserves i don't think he has its going to be oh so obvious in those movies that he wants to be anywhere but here

I love this line of reasoning and put forward that Sony will create our first real-life Bond Villain.

As I recall, ol' Danny Boy followed up his "slash my wrists" statement by saying something along the lines of "If I were to do another, it would be strictly for the money."

So just throwing cash at his face might actually get him to do it. :p

Good. Fuck Craig. Let the next guy go back to the less action, more zany gadgets route. I prefer Bond slinking through hotel rooms with a silencer then running across rooftops as everything explodes. Might make a good finale, but not the whole damn movie.

Oh, we're sorry. It must be so hard being you, Daniel. I get it, I'd be upset too if I was paid millions of dollars to be one of the coolest and most beloved characters in all of cinema history. Seriously though, fuck yourself, Daniel Craig.

Now that Im done with that, lets get Idris Elba to be James Bond!

I'm fine with Craig leaving. Not because he was bad (favorite Bond, has generated 3 good/great Bond movies, and Quantum of Solace which...isn't), but because Spectre feels like the natural conclusion of his arc. It's also notable how Spectre also started introducing gadgets back into the affair. Low key, bar the nanites, and one thing that Spectre does well is that it takes a trope (secret lair) and modernizes it (dedicates it to information control/manipulation), but I feel that if the series wants to continue in this direction, a new Bond might be better for the job.
