New Pokemon Sun and Moon 3DS XL Coming to Stores October 28, No Games Included

There's a sharp new 3DS XL branded for Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon coming October 28.

The launch of Pokemon Sun? and Pokemon Moon are not that far away, and there may be more interest in the franchise than ever before, thanks to Pokemon Go. Despite the retention issues that Pokemon Go is facing [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/168398-Pokemon-GOs-Paying-Population-Drops-79], it has catapulted the franchise into the limelight worldwide. Nintendo is looking to offer new fans something awesome to play the upcoming Pokemon games on with a spiffy new 3DS XL.

The new handheld features the newest legendary Pokemon, Solgaleo and Lunala, in white on the cover of the jet black device. Speaking of the device, Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said,

"This year marks the 20th anniversary of the beloved Pokemon series and people have never been talking about Pokemon more. Playing Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon on this new Pokemon system is the best way for fans to show their love for this iconic series."

The new 3DS XL will be available on October 28, and will retail for $199.99. It will not, however, include either of the new Pokemon games. If you want to pick those up, you'll have to wait for their release on Nov. 18, three weeks after the new 3DS hits stores.

They'll be available separately for $39.99 each, or in the Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon Dual Pack, which includes two codes redeemable in-game for 100 Poke Balls each, for $79.99. All you're gaining with the Dual Pack is the pair of codes, but if you plan to buy both games anyway, you at least get a little but of a bonus.

They should release a small New 3DS in the US with one/both Pokemon games, preferably in my price range. Fuck the XL.

A special edition device priced at the same as that of the regular with no game included? I don't see a problem here. Now if it was 239 or whatever and didn't come with the game, there'd be reason to be annoyed but this as it is seems fine

Compared to like the Majora's Mask 3DS, this one is pretty weak. Just looks like someone slapped some decal stickers on a regular one.

Well, at least the 100 Pokeballs are more useful to any trainer than 100 Potions.

Also...

I would like to make an aside for the whole "game not included" shit that people just LOOOOOOVE to gripe about every single time a collector 3ds comes out:

1) When they did put the game with the system, it was a digital copy. No reselling that cart.

2) They would add the cost of the game to the price of the system, so you're not losing anything from it not being included anyway.

3) Which games would they choose to put on the system? Both of them? What if you didn't want to pay for both of them? This way, you get to choose which and how many pogeymans you will pay for. In the case of the Majora's Mask release, it also allowed you to purchase the 3ds separately from the collector's edition with the figurine, so that if you just wanted the collector's edition of the game without buying the 3ds, or buying the 3ds but not the collector's edition of the game, you had that option. Being able to exercise free will is a GOOD THING.

Frankly people just search for reasons to be mad sometimes.
