New Fire Emblem Confirmed for Nintendo Switch in 2018

The first Fire Emblem title to be released on home consoles since 2007.

During the Fire Emblem Nintendo Direct today, it was announced that a new Fire Emblem game will be arriving on the upcoming Switch console.

This announcement included very few details - the game will be a main series Fire Emblem, and is set to arrive sometime in 2018. In fact, the game doesn't even have a title yet - the "working title" is simply Fire Emblem for Nintendo Switch. As the subsequent announcement on Twitter points out, this is the first for home consoles since 2007.

Also announced during the Nintendo Direct was the fact that Fire Emblem Warriors, first announced at Nintendo's Switch presentation last week, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/169315-Fire-Emblem-Warriors-Also-Releasing-on-New-Nintendo-3DS-Systems], a new game inspired by 1992's Fire Emblem, which is coming to the 3DS in May.

Well I don't plan to get a Switch, but Fire Emblem has been trending down with Awakening and Fates in terms of story, so unless they change course hard this will hurt to play.

I hope they treat this one better in the localization then they did Fates... I'll be skipping the Switch in general if Nintendo doesn't start caring about properly localizing stuff without nanny censoring it for the west.
