New Dawn of War III Trailer Features Space Marines, Orks, and Eldar

The newest Dawn of War III trailer offers up a look at the game's three playable races.

Dawn of War III is drawing nearer every day, and Sega is showing off a little more of the game in a new trailer. Featuring the game's three core factions (Space Marines, Orks, and Eldar), the new trailer focuses on the search for the Spear of Kain (known by the Orks as "the pointy stikk"). You'll also see the leaders of those factions, Gabriel Angelos, Gorgutz 'Ead'unter, and Farseer Macha.

You'll see both cutscenes and gameplay in this trailer (though not the first gameplay we've seen [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/167889-Check-Out-12-Minutes-of-Narrated-Dawn-of-War-3-Gameplay]).

There's still no set release date for Dawn of War III beyond "2017." The real-time strategy sequel will remain a PC exclusive.

Dawn of War 1 gave us these 3 races plus Chaos Space Marines at the start.

Dawn of War 2 gave us these 3 races plus Tyranids at the start.

Dawn of War 3 just gives us 3 races at the start.

They could have at least given us Imperial Guards at the start.

What of the guardsmen at 1:15 and I think 1:07, just some inquisition tag-alongs? I do hope they include guardsmen at release :/

Why does it still just look like an ios port?!
What ios games have you been playing that makes you think this looks like an ios game?
I'm guessing he means the aesthetic? It does look...I dunno how I'd describe it exactly, a certain cartoonishness, but I'm sure you've seen enough comments on DoW 3 to know that a lot of people aren't fans of the way it looks.

Pretty sure they did the same in I & II, guard basic infantry units appeared at points in the story but weren't a full playable army until the expansions.

I'm actually going to say that the graphics are improving to me. At least they do not look like Baby's first Waaggh, so any step in the right direction should be lauded.

Now, I'm still given pause by the mindset the director has about cover saves. I've read that they might have done a cover system close to Dawn of War 2 in conjunction with the bubble system. But those reports are spotty at best. If it's just the bubble system, this game is really getting minus points off the bat. Terrain cover saves are a HUGE part of the tabletop [http://www.3plusplus.net/2013/07/the-truth-about-cover-saves-in-40k/].

For new factions, I think that's just a matter of time... probably at 14 dollars a piece given what Warhammer and Relic's trends have been in the past. Personally, I'm hoping for just the Tau and Chaos.

Specifically, given the "race to the Macguffin" plot of the game, I think a PvPvE capture the item mode could be good. And that the Necrons and the Nid's would make a great PvE race that all factions have to contend with.

Ancient astrotech locked behind doors that you need to escort and protect three builders to three different locations to open the door and claim the prize. But not only are you fighting against another faction, you have to contend with awaken Necrons or the swarm of the 'Nids

I just can't be excited, knowing that crapton of inevitable DLCs are being lined up to be spoonfed to us as we speak.

Even as a fan of both past games I'll just wait 'till it's done and bundled in the Grandmaster/Ultimate/dakkadakka/etc. edition.

Then I can paint my Tyranids bright pink again, and make my friends ragequit because the adorable horde of clawed death hurts their eyes.

Imperial Guard are in the game, look at 1:07 in the video, they just aren't playable

I'd be VERY surprised not see Chaos as well, they could just be hiding them really well.

Imperial Guard units were in the first DoW as well. They just weren't their own faction you could exclusively control.

A whole galaxy of possibility, and they came up with "Race to the MacGuffin"? This is my disappointed face. Serviceable 40K is a very low bar. You have to dig to tunnel under it.

Also, while I get why Space Marines have to be in every installment, Eldar and Orks...again?

As someone who skipped DoW2 due to my PC getting to old to function I'll admit I got a bit of a nostalgia boner from seeing Angelos, Gorgutz and Macha again. It's been a while since I've 40K'ed it up.

Because of course its fucking does. There's a huge wealth of races in 40K, why is it always Space marines, Eldar and Orks?
Let me guess, it'll be a story about how the Space Marines arrive on the planet to deal with an ork WAAAGH only to realise the Eldar are sneaking around in the background so the Space marines mess everything up until it's time to fight the real enemy.
*sigh* well at least it'll be Blood Ravens and not Ultramarines.

The Eldar's pseudo-philosophical waffling did confuse me for a moment. I'm not back into the W40k mindset yet.
Luckily you can always count on Gorgutz to make things clear for you. "A race to the pointy stikk" indeed.

Also, can't help it, I'm just a Space Marine fanboy. Just the look of Angelos and his retinue is pure hype for me.

i guess the graphics have improved a little. or its just growing on me. but this time it looked better. anyway, relic has a tendency to make great trailers. as we seen on the launch trailer. im still on the fence though.
