Square Enix Announces New IP: Project Prelude Rune

Project Prelude Rune is the first title from Square Enix's newly established Studio Istolia.

Square Enix Japan has announced an entirely new IP from its new Studio Istolia developer today: Project Prelude Rune. We know precious little about the game at this point, other than the following statement from Square: "The aim of the studio is to provide unforgettable stories that will inspire players in their own lives, and bring new game experiences to everyone around the world."

We also got some concept art via Gamer [http://www.gamer.ne.jp/news/201702210017/], which you can check out below:

Hideo Baba, who is best known for his work on the Tales of series, is heading the new project.

Looks neat, but then again, this is just concept art. All we know about it is that it looks like something to do with fantasy, the name, and that it'll be a JRPG.

Here's hoping it can break away from many of the storytelling and character issues that JRPGs tend to have.

Well, that's like one of the most general statements for a game studio I have ever heard.
