Heroes of The Storm is Getting a New "Probe" Hero, Big Cho'Gall Changes

"Probius" is a StarCraft probe who's kit revolves around constructing additional pylons.

This weekend, at the Intel Extreme Masters event in Katowice, Blizzard revealed a whole boatload of upcoming Heroes of The Storm information, including a new hero: Probius, the StarCraft probe, and some substantial changes to everyone's favorite two-headed ogre: Cho'gall.

First up, here is Probius's kit:

Warp in Pylon (D)

Warp in a Pylon that generates a Power Field and Grants vision of the surrounding area. Probius only regens mana while inside a power field
Up to 2 Pylons can be active at a time

Worker Rush (Z)

Activate to gain an additional 50% movement speed for 5 seconds. Taking damage ends this early.
Passive: Probius moves 10% faster by hovering over the ground.

Disruption Pulse (Q)

Fire a burst of energy forward, dealing 150 damage to all enemies it passes through. Hitting the center of a Warp Rift will cause it to explode, dealing additional damage.

Warp Rift (W)

Open an unstable Warp Rift at a location that takes 1.25 seconds to arm, which then slows nearby enemies by 20%, lasting 9 seconds.
Armed Warp Rifts explode when hit by a Disruption Pulse, dealing 261 damage to nearby enemies.

Photon Cannon (E)

Warp in a Photon Cannon that deals 95 damage per second. Lasts 11 seconds.
Must be placed within a Pylon's Power Field. Deactivates if it doesn't have a nearby Pylon.

Heroic Abilities (R):

Pylon Overcharge

Increases the size of Pylon power fields and allow them to attack enemies within it for 110 damage per second for 10 seconds.
Passive: Pylons gain permanent shields equal to 50% of their max health.

Null Gate

Project a barrier or negative energy in the target direction that lasts 4 seconds. Enemies who touch the barrier take 64 damage per second and are slowed by 80% for as long as they remain in contact with it.

As for Cho'Gall, his biggest change is a new trait that is different for the Cho head and the Gall head. When Cho activates it, Cho'Gall gets 25% extra armor. When Gall activates it, they do 25% extra damage. Only one can be active at a time, so the two heads will "fight" over which trait to use. Skilled Cho'Gall players will know when to switch traits to maximize damage and defense.

His other changes include Eye of Kilrogg and Shove, previously level 1 talents, now being baseline, and some new level 20 talents, including one that reduces his death timer by 50%.

Cho'Gall doesn't need talent and trait tweeks, they need a god damn mana bar for Gall.

Oh finally a new starcraft hero.

This was pretty cute and funny, even though that probe player is going to get reported for sitting around at base and letting his team go into a 4v5. XD

Sigh...

Y'know, heroes like Morales, Hammer, Brightwing, and Lunara may have been original characters based on units (yes, I'm still pissed that we got Hammer instead of Duke or Warfield, thanks for asking), but at least they were actual characters, who all found their way into the Warcraft/StarCraft settings. But..."Probius?" Seriously? Why the heck isn't he Karax? His entire skill set would fit Karax, everyone was guessing it was Karax when he was first teased, and Karax has the benefit of being an actual individual, not a worker.

But apparently everyone loves Probius (going by the YouTube trailer and whatnot), so hey, what do I know? :(

Everyone can't be super famous, would kinda restrict the creative process I think. Having Mr Hoot Hoot would've been cool, but it wouldn't make much sense to have him squishy and restore mana in the pylon field, at least coming from playing him in actual missions in Starcraft 2.

I like the idea behind Probius as it does allow for a greater variety in HotS. I'd love to see an Immortal unit as a tank, or maybe a Hellion as a specialist/assassin hybrid like the system Varian is built around.

I want Probie so goddamn bad but I'm so low on gold after wasting it on Ragnaros, whom I never play.

While it looks defensive, I think it's probably a pretty good siege hero. Pylons and cannons can probably soak up a lot of tower ammo.
